Abstract
Amaç: Bu araştırma bir devlet üniversitesinde okuyan hemşirelik öğrencilerinin engelli bireylere karşı tutum ve davranışlarını belirlemek
amacıyla yapılmıştır.
Yöntem: Bu tanımlayıcı araştırma Aralık 2021-Şubat 2022 tarihleri arasında bir devlet üniversitesinde öğrenim gören 568 hemşirelik öğrencisi
ile yürütüldü. Veriler: Sosyodemografik Anket Formu, Engelli Bireye Karşı Duyarlılık Formu, Engellilere Yönelik Çok Boyutlu Tutum Ölçeği ile
toplandı, yüzdelik dağılım, ortalama, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis testleri ile değerlendirildi.
Bulgular: Öğrencilerin engelli bireylere karşı duygu alt boyutunda orta, davranış ve düşünce alt boyutunda olumlu tutuma sahip oldukları
bulundu.
Aim: This research was conducted to determine the attitudes and behaviors of nursing students studying at a state university towards disabled individuals. Methods: This descriptive study was conducted with 568 nursing students studying at a state university between December 2021 and February 2022. Data were collected with the Sociodemographic Questionnaire, the Disability Sensitivity Form, and the Multidimensional Attitude Scale towards the Disabled, and were evaluated with the percentage distribution, mean, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis tests. Results: It was found that the students had a moderate attitude towards disabled people in the sub-dimension of emotion, and a positive attitude in the sub-dimension of behavior and thought. It was determined that women’s thought sub-dimension score and behavior subdimension score were higher than men (p=0.000). It was observed that the emotional sub-dimension average score of the students who did not take courses related to the disabled was higher than the students who took the course (p<0.05). Conclusion: Students’ attitudes towards disabled people were found to be positive. In order to change these attitudes in a more positive way, non-governmental organizations and universities can organize programs such as panels and seminars that will increase awareness about the disabled, and disabled people can be invited to school in order to increase the contact of students with disabled people.
