Abstract
Öz. Gazete; gerçek dünyayı öğrencilerle buluşturan çok yönlü bir öğrenme aracıdır. Günlük yaşamdan olayların
irdelendiği gazete temelli örnek olaylar öğrencilerin sosyal olaylara farklı açılardan bakabilme olanağı sağlayarak
çoklu bakış açısı geliştirmelerine olanak sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, gazete haberleriyle desteklenmiş
örnek olay yönteminin kullanıldığı hayat bilgisi öğrenme ortamında öğrencilerin kullandıkları çoklu bakış açısı
içeren ifadelerin niteliğini değerlendirmektir. Bu araştırmada, yeni bir öğretim uygulamasının etkileri
araştırıldığından, nitel araştırma desenlerinden eylem araştırması kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu
2017-2018 eğitim öğretim yılında İstanbul ilinin Bağcılar ilçesindeki bir devlet okulunun birinci sınıfında bulunan
22'si kız 19'u erkek olmak üzere toplam 41 kişilik bir öğrenci grubu oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama
aracı olarak gazete temelli örnek olay merkezinde hazırlanan öğretim sürecindeki sınıf içi iletişim kesitleri,
çalışma yaprakları ve araştırmacı günlüğünden yararlanılmıştır. Sınıf içi iletişim kesitleri ve çalışma yaprakları
önceden belirlenen ölçütlere göre değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen bulgular sonucunda; ilkokul
birinci sınıf öğrencilerinin büyük bölümü bu süreçte çoklu bakış açısını içeren jargonları sıklıkla kullanmaya
başlamış ve sosyal olayları çok perspektifli bakış açısından değerlendirebilmişlerdir. Bu bulgulardan yola çıkarak
hayat bilgisi öğrenme ortamında gazete temelli örnek olay kullanımının öğrencilere sosyal olayların çözümüne
karşı çok perspektifli bakış açısı deneyimi kazandırdığı söylenebilir.
Abstract. Newspaper is a versatile learning tool that connects students to the outside world. Examining occurrences from everyday life via newspaper-based case studies allows students to build multiple perspectives by enabling them to see social events from many angles. This research aims to analyze the quality of expressions incorporating numerous views used by students in a learning environment for life studies in which the case study method supported by newspaper reports was used. Since the impacts of a novel teaching practice were studied in this study, one of the qualitative research designs, action research, was employed. The study group comprises 41 students, 22 females and 19 males, who are enrolled in the first grade at a public school in Istanbul's Bagcilar district during the 2017-2018 academic year. In-class communication sections, worksheets, and a researcher journal were used in the teaching method that was prepared in the newspaperbased case study center as data gathering tools throughout the process. Both the in-class communication parts and the worksheets were graded according to the criteria that were established beforehand. As a consequence of the study's results, the majority of first-year students in primary schools began to commonly utilize jargon that included many views in this process and were able to assess social situations from different perspectives. On the basis of these results, it can be concluded that the utilization of newspaper-based case studies in a life studies learning environment offers students a multi-perspective understanding of the resolution of social events.
