Item Metadata only Creation: a comparative study between Avicenna’s and Aquinas’ positions(Harvard University Department of Near East Languages and Civilizations, 2002) Acar, Rahim; Wisnovsky, RobertItem Metadata only İbn Sînâ felsefesinde ahlâkî önermelerin kaynağı ve değeri(Marmara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, 2019) Çınar, Esra Urhan; Türker, Ömer; Felsefe ve Din Bilimleri Anabilim Dalı İslam Felsefesi Bilim DalıEylemlerimizin ahlâkîliğini belirleyen üst bir ilke vardır. Nübüvvetin ispatıyla da değeri meşhûr olan ahlâkî önermelerin burhâniliği sağlandığı sonucuna varılmıştır.--------------------There is a superior principle that determines the morality of our actions. This upper principle describes what we do as good or bad. This principle defines moral propositions as holistic and particular. The value of these propositions is “meşhûrat”. Proverbial (meşhûr) propositions are those that are doubted unless they exist in a society or are determined by the legislator, but are given certainty by certain conditions. Since it gains value from the outside, the certainty of these propositions is realized by the approval of the person who said it. This led the studiers to two different answers. For this reason, two answers to the question of what is the source of morality in Ibn Sina philosophy in the study; intellect and nubuvvet (legislator) have been evaluated. It has been concluded that the moral propositions, which are also famous for the proof of nubuvvet, have been established. PERFECTION OF THE WORLDIN THE PHILOSOPHY OF IBN SINA (AVICENNA)ABSTRACTThe aim of this work is to scrutinize the problem of perfection of the world, one of the ancient issues of philosophy, with special reference to the philosophical writings of Avicenna.Aside from the introduction and conclusion this works consists of two chapters. The introduction deals with boundries of the topic and discussion of the relevant sources. The first chapter focuses on historical background of the problem, beginning with the philosophy of Plato in two parts. Part one covers the approaches by Aristotle, Stoicism, and Neo-Platonism on the perfection of the world, emphasising their influence on the Islamic philosophy. Part two, on the other hand, discusses reflection of that historical background on Islamic philosophy. With this aim, it covers the doctrine/aslah by Mu'tazilism and the philosophies of the outstanding predecessors of Avicenna, namely al-Kindi, al-Farabi, al-Amiri, and Ihvan al-SafaThe second chapter deals with the philosophy of Avicenna on the perfection of the world in three parts. The first part depicts that philosophy within the framework of Avicenna's conception of God. This part outlines the probable relation with the topic of the work and the theory of emanation, discussing his opinions of some attributes of God, especially the pure goodness, ultimate generousity and providence, and comparing them with Ghazali's opinions on these issues. Referring to teleology and order, the second part handles with the same problem and discusses Avicenna's cause theory as well as his approaches to the concepts that are likely oppose to teleological order such as the concepts of coincidence, absurd, and chance; and his handling with the teleological argument for the existing of God. The third part aims to look at the problem of theodicy, the biggest problem seems to oppose to the notion of the perfection of the world, in a brand new systematic way. It examines theodicy's meanings, source, kinds in Avicenna's philosophy and the solutions that he found in order to reconcile this concept with the perfection of the world. The conclusion covers my findings during this search. SUMMARYThe main point of my thesis is a concept of matter and form has a main place in the history of philosophy as a foundation of study since Greece philosophers' thought. Even, the concept of matter and form was made suggestion by Greece philosophers they were systematically put in order by Aristotle. That's why, at the first part the place and importance of matter and form in the philosophy of Aristotle was studied. Aristotle tried to explain all details, if all things which due to eternal and non-eternal universe possess matter and form as a singly being or not. At the same time these concepts have a main place at the Islam philosophy as it is used in Greece philosophy. They developed the system, which is bought to being by Plato and Aristotle. The second part includes great philosopher Ibn Sina (Avicenna)'s philosophy, which is systematically put an order the Islamic philosophy. On the basis of Plato and Aristotle's philosophy, Ibn Sina payed more attention to concept of matter and form, he took charge details of these concepts in work as al-İlâhiyyât, al-Nafs, al-Tabi'yyât and al-Najât...Item Metadata only İbn Sina felsefesinde soyutlanma sorunu(Marmara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, 2018) Çolak, Fatma Ülkü; Türker, Ömer; Felsefe ve Din Bilimleri Anabilim Dalı İslam Felsefesi Bilim DalıBu çalışma İbn Sînâ felsefesinde yetkinleşme ameliyesinin nasıl gerçekleştiğini analiz etmektedir. This study analyzes the process of abstraction in Avicennian philosophy. Avicenna’s remarkable work On The Station of Knowers (Maqamât al-Ârifin) is the main text of this study which approaches to the perfection based on spiritual exercise (riyâdâ) in contrary to philosopher’s other works. In the first chapter I explained who are the ascetic (zâhid), the worshipper (âbid) and the knower (ârif) by elaborating their common and distinct features and then I tried to show which one Avicenna means by the perfect human being. To show that I explained the concepts of philosophy and philosopher according to Avicenna considering his accounts in his various works. In the second chapter I examined the process of the perfection for the knower. For that I analyzed the spiritual practice in different aspects which Avicenna establishes as a method for perfection and I supported my claims with the original works of philosopher and the secondary sources. The last chapter is on spiritual exercise’s being a method which enables the perfection. There I elaborated the features and actions of a perfect human being by analyzing the text itself. Çalışma neticesinde görülmüştür ki Filozof’un hem nefs görüşü hem de metafizik ilmine dair meselelerinin incelenmesine haz kavramı da dâhil edilebilir.--------------------ABSTRACTThis study analyzes İbn Sînâ's concept of pleasure in the context of opinion of soul (nafs) and metaphysics. The study begins with the search for the definitions of pleasure of the philosophers before İbn Sînâ. The second part is devoted to the study of the definitions of pleasure and the other concepts used in these definitions. The third part is about the intellectuals pleasures which are the main research topics of this thesis. In this part, İbn Sînâ’s notions about intellectual pleasures which human beings and the pleasure of the God were examined. It has been noticed through the study that the concept of pleasure could be included İbn Sînâ’s analysis of both opinion of soul and the problems regarding metaphysics. The assumption that the relative is a single accident which exists on two subjects and connects the subjects on which it exists has led to the idea that it is an accident that is only in the mind and not the external world because of the infinite regress barrier. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the view of Avicenna, who argues for the existence of the relative in the external world without such a problem. The study was conducted by identifying the conceptual elements and implicit principles that resulted in this view. The following results have been obtained in the thesis: The concept of the “external world” includes relations, which makes a thing capable of relative accidents when it is in the external world. The nature of the relative is consistent with (i) the distinction and relationship between its external realization and definition, (ii) the single subject substance-accident ontology that builds the external world and human knowledge of it. However, the fact that the relative is a mind-dependent accident causes the question of whether the human mind is the creator of relatives to stay relevant. The answer to this question requires the disclosure of the final principle and conditions of a thing being qualified as a relative accident independently of human thinking. It has been found that the principle is “oneness” and that relativity is unique to oneness and is a meaning that is attributed to everything that is qualified as being one. Şeylerin sadece varlığına veya sadece nedenine ilişkin kanıtlama ise onların sadece varlığına veya sadece nedenine dair kesin bilgi verir.ABSRACTAvicenna bases his philosophical system on the separation of things into existence and essence. The existence of things basically is two various, it exists in the external world and in the memory. Things that conceptions in the memory earns the existence at the language and at the writing. Avicenna in the same way separates the essence into two; it exists at the external world and the memory. The things that in the memory are gotten from the external world. From the standpoint of that, the existence of things in the external world is the source of our whole knowledge. The first principles of a science are gotten from external world at the finale of sensorial and memorial process. The earned knowledges are gotten from this principles or experiment by means of thinking and knowing power of the psyche.Every science have principles and subjects and inquired things. The principles that science is based on them, the subjects that science inquires about them, the inquired things that science inquires and demonstrates. The principles and the subjects and the inquired things of every science are to became necessarily related to this science. This necessity both makes the knowledge about anything necessarily-definite knowledge and brings to adaptation of ‘Theory of Scientific Demonstration’ to siciences. The real and perfect demonstration about inquired things is demonstration that both gives the existence and the cause of things. Just with this kind of demonstration, it is gived the perceft-definite knowledge about things. The demonstration about only the existence or the cause of things gives the knowledge about only the existence or the cause of things.Item Metadata only Kindi, Farabi ve İbn Sina’ da akıl- vahiy /felsefe- din ilişkisi(Marmara Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü, 1998) Alper, Ömer Mahir; Karlığa, HBekir; Felsefe ve Din Bilimleri Anabilim Dalı İslam Felsefesi Bilim Dalı
