Abstract
Çalışmada Irak Savaşı'na giden süreçte 1 Mart 2003 tarihinde TBMM'de oylanan Irak'a asker gönderimi hakkındaki tezkerenin öncesinde Türk basınının sorunu algılayış ve topluma sunuş biçimi tartışılmaktadır. Bu çerçevede birinci bölümde, bu tür çalışmalarda sıkça kullanılan imaj ve söyleme değinilmektedir. Genel teori açısından savaşın medyada nasıl yer bulduğuna yer verilirken, ikinci bölümde Türkiye'de Irak Savaşı'nın algılanışını değiştiren unsurlara yer verilmektedir. Bunların en başında Türkiye'nin cumhuriyet döneminden beri karşısında bulunan Kürt sorunu ve global düzeyde 11 Eylül saldırılarıyla Yeni Dünya Düzeni tartışmalarına değinilecektir. Üçüncü bölümde, Türk basınında tezkere öncesinde Irak sorununun nasıl yer aldığı tartışılacaktır. Çalışmada 1 Şubat-2 Mart 2003 tarihleri arasındaki Yeni Şafak, Hürriyet ve Radikal gazetelerinden yararlanılarak yapılan eleştirel haber söylem analizine yer verilecektir. Söz konusu üç gazetede aynı kaynaklı haberlerin nasıl işlendiği, haberlerin sunumu ve başlık seçimlerine dair incelemelerde bulunulmaktadır. Çalışmanın sonucunda bu tarihler arasında Irak sorununa ilişkin yayınlanan haberlere ilişkin analiz düzeyinde genel sonuçlar elde edilmeye çalışılacaktır. Yine bu bölümde tezkerenin reddedilmesine ilişkin karar verme süreci ve Türk basınında bu sürecin nasıl yansıdığı incelenecektir. This paper discusses how the Turkish press perceived and presented the problem to the society during the prewar period before the rejection of the motion on 1 March 2003 by the Turkish Great National Assembly giving green light to the deployment of troops to Iraq. In this context, the first chapter mentions the image and the wordings used frequently in this kind of works. While this part describes how the war has been handled by the media from the point of the general theory, the second chapter presents the items changing the perception of the Iraqi War in Turkey. First of all, the Kurdish problem which the Republic of Turkey faces since its foundation and then on the global level, the 11 September attacks and the New World Order will be discussed. In the third chapter, how the Iraqi war has been elaborated by the Turkish press before the motion is examined. The paper makes a critical analysis of the wordings of the news appeared in the newspapers Yeni Şafak, Hürriyet and Radikal between 1 February - 2 March 2003. The aim is to elaborate the wordings and the choice of headlines of the news from the same source in the three different newspapers. At the end of the paper, the general conclusions will be determined resulting from the analysis of the news about the Iraqi problem released between these dates. This chapter will also observe the decision making process related to the rejection of the motion and how this process was reflected by the Turkish press.
