One of the most important examples of these genres is called 'maqtel'. In general terms, such works which are written on the death of a person gained a special identity in Islamic culture and became popular with the name of "maqtal-e hussain". The Prophet Muhammad's grandson, Ali and Fâtima's son, Hussain's martyrdom in Karbala have been told in these texts with a sentimental discourse.
