Publication Metadata only Isolation and Determination of Tocopherols and Tocotrienols from the Seed of Capparis Ovata Grown in Turkey by Reversed-Phase High-Performance Liquid Chromatography(SPRINGER HEIDELBERG, 2020) CÜCÜ, AYŞEN; Bakir, Diyar Selen; Yalcin, Guler; Cucu, Aysen KurtVitamin E is an essential vitamin, consisting of eight organic liposoluble compounds which are tocopherols and tocotrienols. Tocopherols and tocotrienols are collectively named 'tocols'. Tocols are well-known for their potent biological activities, such as antioxidant, anticancer, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory activities, and they prevent vascular occlusion by providing fluidity in the veins. They are one of the main sources of human nutrition. Therefore, it is vital to analyze various forms of tocols in plants, foods, and other commercial products in addition to monitoring it in body fluids. Capparis Ovata is a plant from the family Capparaceae grown widely in Turkey and has a commercial value. We investigated eight tocols (alpha, beta, delta, gamma tocopherols and alpha, beta, delta, gamma tocotrienols) in C. Ovata seed; optimized a pressurized liquid extraction (PLE) method for isolation, and developed fully validated RP-HPLC-DAD method. The delta-tocopherol, gamma-tocopherol and alpha-tocopherol quantities were 1505.61 ppm, 930.24 ppm and 47.10 ppm with methanolic PLE method, respectively. All quantities detected with Soxhlet extraction were less than those obtained with PLE. In the present study, delta-tocotrienol was 32 times, gamma-tocopherol was 20 times more than alpha-tocopherol. In consideration of recently reported pharmacological activities of delta- and gamma-tocopherols, and the higher effectiveness of delta-tocopherol, our results are of particular importance. We detected and separated all tocols in about 10 min, and beta- and gamma-isomers of tocopherols had the comparable resolution value of 1.52. The limits of quantification values were low with the range of 0.29 x 10(-4) to 9.60 x 10(-4) mg mL(-1); the recoveries were between 95.84 and 113.83% for all eight tocols, and due to the wide linear quantification ranges, the developed method was stated to be suitable for various amounts of tocol analysis.Publication Metadata only Analytical studies on the antioxidant activity of rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis L.)(2021-12-21) CÜCÜ, AYŞEN; Ceran C., Cücü A.Publication Metadata only Analytical methods used in the determination of antioxidant capacity of origanum species(2021-12-21) CÜCÜ, AYŞEN; Çatallar E., Cücü A.Publication Metadata only Analytical studies on drug active substances used in the treatment of asthma(2022-11-23) CÜCÜ, AYŞEN; Cücü A., İnan Y.Publication Metadata only Quantitative Determination of Heavy Metal Contamination in Horse Mackerel and Whiting Caught in the Sea of Marmara(SPRINGER, 2019) CÜCÜ, AYŞEN; Cucu, Aysen Kurt; Topkaya, Murat; Erdogan, Gulbin; Aboul-Enein, Hassan Y.In this study, the concentrations of lead, cadmium and manganese were determined in horse mackerel (Trachurus mediterraneus) and whiting (Merlangius merlangus euxinus) that were caught in the Sea of Marmara. These are commonly consumed fish species in this region. Fish were provided by a fishermen quarterly between March 2013 and December 2013 and, separated according to size (small, medium and large). Pb(II), Cd(II) and Mn(II) levels were determined using the wet digestion method by Graphite furnace atomic atomic absorption spectrophotometer. According to this study, for horse mackerel, the highest concentration of lead, cadmium, and manganese was 6.69 A mu g kg(-1) (September), 5.24 A mu g kg(-1) (March) and 9.24 A mu g kg(-1) (June), respectively. For whiting, the highest concentration of lead, cadmium, and manganese was 2.25 A mu g kg(-1) (June), 0.263 A mu g kg(-1) (September) and 10.4 A mu g kg(-1) (June), respectively. These heavy metal levels in fish were found to be acceptable for human consumption according to World Health Organization border values.Publication Metadata only The Determination of the Stability Constant of Finasteride Complexes with Various Metals by Potentiometric and Spectrophotometric Methods(MARMARA UNIV, FAC MEDICINE, 2016) CÜCÜ, AYŞEN; Cucu, Aysen Kurt; Arslan, Emine; Karaderi, SerapIn this study, the stability constants of the cobalt(II), zinc(II), cadmium(II) and copper(II) complexes of finasteride were determined potentiometrically by using Irving-Rossotti and Calvin-Bjerrum methods and supported by spectrophotometric way [1-3]. The evaluated protonation constant of finasteride was found as logK=2,21. Potentiometrically the logarithms of the stability constants of the finasteride-metal complexes were found by Calvin-Bjerrum and Irving-Rossotti methods: for cobalt(II) complex logK=3,01; for zinc(II) complex logK=2,82; for cadmium(II) complex logK=3,04 and for copper complex logK=2,85 at 25 degrees C (I=0,10). Conditional formation constants of the complexes were calculated and pH ranges of the complexation were found. Spectrometric measurements were recorded for cobalt(II)finasteride, zinc(II)-finasteride, cadmium(II)-finasteride and copper(II)-finasteride solutions and the results of the measurement supported the formation of complexes. In this study, the stability constant of finasteride complexes with metals were determined using the potentiometric and spectrophotometric methods. These metals can be received directly or indirectly to the human body. Therefore, the stability constants that we found, can shed light on the analysis of blood samples of patients.
