Ugur; Esmer, Kadir; Kara, AliThe adsorption of poly(1-vinylimidazole) (PVI) onto sepiolite from aqueous solutions was investigated as a function of some parameters such as pH, ionic strength, and temperature. The adsorption of PVI was increased with increasing pH and with decreasing ionic strength and temperature. The Langmuir isotherm model fitted the isotherm data better than the Freundlich model. The electrophorotic mobility of sepiolite dispersions was measured at different PVI concentrations and pH. The thermodynamic parameters Gibbs free energy, enthalpy, and entropy were evaluated. The dimensionless separation factor (R-L.) revealed that sepiolite can be used for adsorption of PVI from aqueous solutions. The second-order kinetics equation best fitted the experimental data. Dielectric properties of sepiolite coated with PVI have been also investigated. The sample with adsorbed PVI at 25 degrees C has the maximum the AC conductivity and the charge carriers can move easily in comparison with other samples. The real permittivities of the PVI-adsorbed samples are quite high in comparison with those of the pure polymer as a result of interface interactions. (C) 2011 Elsevier B.V. The dielectric constant of natural LLDPE remained constant at around 1.5, depending on the temperature rise and frequency while that of LLDPE-PE-g-MA/clay and LLDPE-OxPE/clay nanocomposites increased up to 4.8 and 2.8, respectively, linearly with increasing temperature. Especially in the low frequency region, a Maxwell-Wagner-Sillars polarization was observed in composite structures with an increase in temperature due to the dipolar effect. It has been concluded that the clay in the polymer matrix was more homogeneously dispersed than OxPE due to the compatibilizing effect of PE-g-MA and that different polarization mechanisms were at play for each compatibilizer.Publication Metadata only Role of the pva gate dielectric solvent in organic field effect transistor(2013-06-24) ESMER, KADİR; Malkoç D., Alpaslan Kösemen Z., KÖSEMEN A., Şengez B., ESMER K., BAŞARAN E.Publication Metadata only Tungsten Trioxide Reinforced Epoxy Composites with Increased Dielectric Permittivity and Conductivity(2022-09-04) ŞAHİN, NAZLICAN; ESMER, KADİR; ŞAHİN N., KARABUL Y., KILIÇ M., GÜVEN ÖZDEMİR Z., ESMER K.This study focuses on the improvement of ac electrical properties of epoxy polymer matrix for energy storage applications by reinforcing it with WO3 micro particles. The Bragg diffraction peaks represents to the triclinic structure of WO3 particles. The particle dimensions are between 600 and 800 nm. The samples have been prepared by using the mixture of liquid bisphenol A-epichlorohydrin epoxide resin and isophorone diamine in 2:1 ratio. To prepare composites, µ-WO3 have been added at a rate of 5%, 10%, 20%, and 30% by mass. Electrical investigation of epoxy composites containing WO3 included the real and imaginary components of complex permittivity function, loss tangent, the real and imaginary components of complex electrical modulus, and conductivity in the frequency range of 20 Hz-15 MHz. As a result, it has been determined that among other composites, the composite having 20% WO3 particle addition has the highest Ɛ´ and Ɛ´´ values in the low frequency range. On the other hand, compared to pure epoxy, the highest conductivity values have been observed in ac conductivity in the mid and low frequency regions with 20% and 30% WO3 additives, respectivelyPublication Metadata only Structural and dielectric properties of POSS reinforced polyimide nanocomposites(TAYLOR & FRANCIS INC, 2019) BİRTANE, HATİCE; Birtane, Hatice; Esmer, Kadir; Madakbas, Seyfullah; Kahraman, Memet VezirIn this study, a series of [3-(2-aminoethyl)amino]propyl-heptaisobutyl substituted polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (AHIP) containing polyimide (PI) nanocomposites were successfully prepared. Structural, thermal and electrical properties of the polyimide nanocomposites were studied. The properties of AHIP containing polyimides were compared with those of the neat polyimide films. The surface morphology of the prepared AHIP containing polyimides were determined by using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The hydrophilic/hydrophobic nature of AHIP/polyimide composites were analyzed by measuring their water contact angles. It was found that the addition of AHIP into the polyimide slightly increased the contact angle values. The incorporation of 5% AHIP to the PI matrix decreased the dielectric constant value of pure PI from 8.6 to 11.7, respectively. Furthermore he dielectric permittivity was changed from 8.6 (neat polyimide) to 5.5 (PI3).Publication Metadata only Structural and Dielectric Properties of Two Different BaTiO3/Polyaniline Nanocomposites(SPRINGER, 2013) ESMER, KADİR; Sipahioglu, S.; Madakbas, S.; Arda, L.; Esmer, K.Barium titanium oxide/polyaniline (BaTiO3/PANI) nano-composites were obtained in two different processes by the use of PANI and BaTiO3 nano-particles synthesized by the sol-gel technique. FT-IR, XRD, SEM and TGA measurements were taken for structural properties of all samples. The molecular interaction between BaTiO3 nanoparticles and PANI was between the H atoms in the N-H bond and the OH molecules in the solution environment. The said interaction was coordinated with BaTiO3 molecules over O atoms. XRD results confirmed that the synthesized BaTiO3 had a characteristic cubic perovskite structure and that its structure had not changed. TGA results revealed that the composites became more stable as the BaTiO3 amount increased. The dielectric measurement results are consistent with the structural results at higher frequencies. Dielectricity increased as BaTiO3 ratio increased in the environment. The change in the real part of the dielectric permittivity by frequency was stable at high frequencies. According to these results, it is concluded that the composite samples could have very high electromagnetic wave absorption values at higher frequencies (GHz).
