Publication Metadata only Polymicrobial bacteremia due to lactobacillus jensenii and veillonella montpellierensis in a pregnant patient; case report and review of literature(2022-06-01) ÜLGER, NURVER; BOZAN, TURGUT; TİGEN, ELİF; ESİM BÜYÜKBAYRAK, ESRA; ÜLGER N., BOZAN T., Yilmaz S., ESİM BÜYÜKBAYRAK E., TİGEN E.Prompt and accurate diagnosis of polymicrobial bacteremia, which causes the difficulty in anti-infective treatments, poor treatment outcome and high mortality, is essential for initiating effective antimicrobial therapy. Here we present a case of bacteremia caused by two types of uncommon bacteria, Lactobacillus jenseniand and Veillonella montpellierensis in a 29-year-old pregnant woman at 33 weeks of gestation with anemia due to iron deficiency. She had no comorbidity or other chronic illnesses and was successfully treated with appropriate antibiotic use.Publication Metadata only Polymicrobial anaerobic meningitis caused by Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Fusobacterium necrophorum and Slackia exigua in a patient with mastoiditis following otitis media(ELSEVIER SCI LTD, 2019) ÜLGER, NURVER; Kalay, G. N.; Dalgic, N.; Bozan, T.; Ulger-Toprak, N.; Bayraktar, B.; Soyletir, G.We have reported a case of mastoiditis which progressed to meningitis in a 16-year old male patient. CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) anaerobic culture revealed four species of isolated anaerobic bacteria. This is the first case in the literature in which a patient survived childhood polymicrobial anaerobic meningitis diagnosed by MALDI-TOF MS (Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization - Time of Flight Mass Spectrometry). (C) 2019 Published by Elsevier Ltd.Publication Open Access Clinical and laboratory awareness for an under recognized pathogen in newborn meningitis: Mycoplasma Hominis: a case report(TURKISH J PEDIATRICS, 2020) MEMİŞOĞLU, ASLI; Kersin, Sinem Gulcan; Bozan, Turgut; Ozdemir, Hulya; Bilgen, Hulya Selva; Soyletir, Guner; Memisoglu, Asli; Ozek, ErenBackground. Mycoplasma hominis is a well-known bacterium colonizing the genito-urinary tract. It may cause pneumonia, bacteremia, abscesses, chronic lung disease, and rarely meningitis during the newborn period. Case. A preterm infant with a birth weight of 885 grams was born at 27 weeks of gestation and had respiratory distress syndrome needing mechanical ventilation. Spontaneous intestinal perforation and grade four intraventricular hemorrhage was diagnosed on day three. Conclusion. M. hominis was accepted as the causative agent of meningitis in this case report.Publication Open Access Butyricimonas virosa: the first clinical case of bacteraemia(2015-03) ÜLGER, NURVER; Ulger Toprak, N.; Bozan, T.; Birkan, Y.; Isbir, S.; Soyletir, G.
