Publication Metadata only Technological developments of SMES systems in distribution networks(2023-09-20) AKAR, ONUR; Çam G., AKAR O.Today electric power has become one of the most significant requirements for vital activities. New energy sources have been found along with the depletion of the current energy sources and the development of the technology. Electric power has been generated from various energy sources and tried to be distributed to the consumers. At this stage, in the transmission of electric power to consumers from the generation center, distribution to consumers with the least loss and in a high-quality manner matters. In this case, the use of an energy storage system (ESS) is deemed an extensively applicable solution. Energy storage systems may store the electric power based on demand and if required, may provide the energy again. Due to the great potential of energy storage and the increasing development of the market, researches are performed on the types, implementations and evaluation systems of energy storage systems and the most suitable solution is presented. In order to provide high-quality electric power, one of the most reliable and cost-effective options for optimizing the efficiency and stability of transmission and distribution network systems is superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES). For that reason, it is very important to ensure permanence in the process from the generation of electrical energy to its transmission to consumers. One of the most significant components of power systems is the power transformer, and it plays an important role in the process of energy transmission and distribution. Thus, continuous operation of the power transformers should be ensured for the quality and reliability of the power systems. Despite the institutions in charge of electric power generation, transmission and distribution carry out inspections for the continuous operation of the power transformers, failures resulting from voltage drop arise due to overloads. In this study, the estimation through Artificial Neural Network (ANN) of voltage drop resulting from overloads was performed using the data of power transformers of different quality. It was observed that the values obtained as the result of estimations through ANN were correct with a rate of 99%. It is considered that this study will set an example for other studies in the field.Publication Open Access Modeling of an HPS for the electric power demand of the cattle farm using genetic algorithm(2023-06-01) AKAR, ONUR; Oz O., Sahin M., AKAR O.Today, as the demand for energy increases based on the increasing population and improving technology, resorting to new energy sources has become a necessity. Due to the rapid consumption of fossil fuels and the responsibility of humanity for the environment, Renewable Energy Sources (RES) are of a quality that may respond to this necessity. But the RES such as sun and wind vary depending on the weather conditions. Considering such variance, Hybrid Power Systems (HPS) are suggested in order to assure reliability and continuity in energy generation. For the sake of strengthening the HPS that are dependent on weather conditions, it is considered to increase the system\"s reliability and continuity through the inclusion in the HPS of cattle biomass reserves in the area. In this paper, it was studied on modeling of HPS based on sun, wind and biogas that will meet the electric power demand of the cattle farm located at Afyonkarahisar, Turkey. The two decades\" animal population and load value changes were estimated through Genetic Algorithm (GA), and the HPS model was investigated under different scenarios considering sustainable energy and environment objectives, and the analyses were performed considering the changes in economic parameters.Publication Open Access Location of transformers during the extension of an electricity distribution network(2022-10-01) AKAR, ONUR; TERZİ, ÜMİT KEMALETTİN; Akar O., Terzi Ü. K., Ozgonenel O.The electricity network of a country is in continuous development, including the distribution transformers that provide power within a city. Efficient electricity networks depend on the good implementation of the principles of network planning and development. Moreover, technology development and the increasing standard of living are creating greater electricity demand. Besides, housing developments alter the need for electricity in an urban area and will require changes to control load density, adjustment of the voltage on distribution lines, installation of new lines and substations, and restructuring of existing ones. This study develops new mathematical and geometric methods that can be applied to all Low Voltage distribution networks to investigate load distribution, the effects of change and, provide a tool for distribution network planning. The analysis included the electrical power values to the new transformer, the shortest distribution routes between the transformers, and the costs, and provided optimum locations for new transformers. In this way, distribution network planning has been approached with a new method.Publication Metadata only Elektrik enerjisi üretim iletim ve dağıtımında siber güvenlik(2022-05-16) AKAR, ONUR; Akar O.Elektrik enerjisi, günümüz enerji çeşitleri içerisinde en temiz ve hemen hemen her alanda kullanılan bir enerji çeşididir.
