dc.description.abstractGiriş: Skolyoz, omurgada üç boyutlu deformiteye oluşturması nedeniyle fiziksel, psikolojik, sosyal ve kozmetikaçıdan önemli bir halk sağlığı sorunudur. Bu araştırmanın amacı Türkiye’de sağlık alanında öğrenim gören lisansöğrencilerinin skolyoz hakkındaki temel bilgi düzeylerininin araştırılmasıdır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: 2018 – 2019 öğretim döneminde sağlık bilimleri alanında lisans ve ön lisans öğrencisi olankatılımcılardan araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan 17 sorudan oluşan sorgulama formunun online olarakdoldurulması istendi. Veriler SPSS v.22.0 ile tanımlayıcı yöntemler kullanılarak analiz edildi.Bulgular: Çalışmaya 60 farklı üniversitede öğrenim gören 611 öğrenci katıldı. Katılımcıların %83,6’sı (n=511)skolyozu ‘omurga eğriliği’ olarak tanımladı. Fizyoterapi lisans öğrencilerinin %87,7’si ve Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinin%82,2’si skolyoz teriminin tanımını bilmekteydi. Öğrencilerin %40’ı skolyozdan şüphesi olduğunda bireyleri hangisağlık profesyoneline göndermesi gerektiğini biliyordu. Öğrencilerin bilgi düzeyi öğretim yıllarının artması ileartmaktaydı.Sonuç: Çalışmamızın sonucu 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin önemli bir kısmının skolyoz ile ilgili temel bilgi düzeyine sahipolmadan mezun olacağını göstermiştir. Erken tanı için toplumda skolyoz farkındalığının artması gerekmektedir,toplumsal farkındalığın artması da öncelikli olarak sağlık çalışanlarının farkındalığının ve bilgi düzeylerinin artmasıile mümkün olabilir.
dc.description.abstractObjective: Scoliosis is an important public health problem in terms of physical, psychological, social and cosmetic_x000D_ aspects due the three-dimensional deformity in the spine. The purpose of this research is to investigate the basic level_x000D_ of knowledge about scoliosis of undergraduate healthcare students in Turkey._x000D_ Materials and Metods: Undergraduate and associate degree healthcare students in the 2018- 2019 academic year,_x000D_ were asked to fill in the online questionnaire consisting of 17 questions prepared by the researchers. Data were_x000D_ analyzed with using descriptive methods with SPSS v.22.0._x000D_ Results: A total of 611 students from 60 different universities participated in the study. 83.6% (n=511) of the_x000D_ participants defined scoliosis as “curvature of the spine”. A total of 87.7% of undergraduate physiotherapy students_x000D_ and 82.2% of medical students knew the definition of scoliosis term. 40% of the students knew which healthcare_x000D_ professional to refer to individuals if they had suspected scoliosis. The knowledge level of the students increased with_x000D_ the progress of per academic year._x000D_ Conclusion: The results of our study showed that nearly half of the 4th grade students would graduate without having_x000D_ a basic knowledge of scoliosis. Increased awareness of scoliosis is needed for early diagnosis, increasing social_x000D_ awareness may be possible with the increase of awareness and knowledge levels of healthcare professionals.
