Publication: Sağlık hizmetleri meslek yüksekokulu öğrencilerinin kardiyovasküler risk faktörlerini bilme durumu
Abstract
Objectives: This study was done with the aim of determining the cardiovascular risk factors knowledge of Vocational School of Health Services (VSHS) students in Üsküdar University. Material and Method: This descriptive and cross-sectional study was completed with 2401 students who studies of VSHS in 2015-2016 academic year, who are over the age of 18, who don’t have any communication problem and who accept joining the research. Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors Knowledge Level Scale (CARRF-KL) and the 16-item questionnaire were used in order to identify Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) risk factors knowledge level. Data were evaluated with average, frequency, standard deviation and student t-test.Results: It was found that mean score of CARRF-KL was 17,9±4 (breakpoint 14) and cronbach alpha was 0,83. Mean score of CVD characteristics was 1,9±0,9; mean score of CVD risk factors was 10,1±3 and mean score of CVD protection was 5,9±2. It was found that female than male (p<,0001), the second class than the first class (p<,0001), students who work than who do not work (p<,0001), married people than singles (p=,002) and students who have nuclear families than who have extended families (p=,007) were more informed. Students who walk regularly, who consume low-salty food, who take CVD education, who have CVD in their family have higher knowledge level about CARRF-KL (p<,0001). Conclusion: It was found that students had high knowledge level of CVD risk factors and protection from CVD, inadequate knowledge level of CVD characteristics.
