Abstract
In the research, the relationships between eating attitude, self-compassion and early maladaptive schemas were examined. The mediating role of self-compassion in the relationship between eating attitude and early maladaptive schemas was evaluated. The sample of the study consists of 355 participants between the ages of 18-45. Eating Attitude Test (EAT), Self Compassion Scale (SCS) and Young Schema Questionnaire- Short Form 3 (YSQ-SF3) were used in the data collection phase. Relationships between eating attitude, self-compassion and early maladaptive schemas were examined. According to the results of the correlation analysis, significant relationships were found between eating attitude, self-compassion, and early maladaptive schemas. Then, Simple Mediator Analysis (Process) was conducted to evaluate the mediating role of self-understanding in the relationship between eating attitude and early maladaptive schemes. According to the results of the research, self-compassion has an intermediary role between eating attitude and early maladaptive schemes. The findings of the research were discussed in the light of the related literature and how it can be used in clinical applications is discussed.
