Abstract

KİL TABLETTEN E-KİTABA YAZI TEKNOLOJİSİ VE BİLİNÇ BORA ATAMAN ÖZET Çalışma, 'Yazılı İletişim' alanına, 'İletişimsel Politik Ekonomi'nin yaklaşımını katmaktadır. Yazı teknolojisi çerçevesinde; iletişim, iletişim teknolojisi ve insanlar arasındaki ilişkinin, tarihi eşiklerdeki görünümlerine bakarak, söz konusu ilişkinin büyük resmini çizmeyi amaçlamıştır. Yazı teknolojisi; karmaşık ilişkiler ağı içinde, önce doğaldan mekaniğe, sonra da mekanikten elektroniğe, elektromanyetiğe doğru geçirmiş olduğu evrim sürecinde incelenmiştir. Determinist teorilerin dayattığı bakışa alternatif getirilmiştir. Yazılı iletişim, gerçek hayatın içindeki çok boyutlu, çok katmanlı ve karmaşık ilişkiler içinde incelenmiştir. Yazı teknolojisindeki ilerlemelerin, eleştirel düşünce açısından tarih içinde sağlamış olduğu olanakların izi sürülmüş, bugün ve yakın gelecekte teknolojinin neler sunabileceği üzerinde durulmuştur. Ayrıca çalışma, bilinç ve teknoloji ilişkisinin oldukça hassas birlikteliğini sürekli analiz etmektedir. Çalışma üç bölüme ayrılmıştır. Birinci bölümde, insanoğlunun tarih öncesi iletişim yöntemleri ve bu yöntemlerden yazıya geçiş süreci irdelenmiştir. Yazının icadıyla birlikte uygarlık ve yazı arasındaki ilişkiler belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. İkinci bölümde, Avrupa'da toplumsal hayatın değişmeye başladığı bir dönemde yazının bireyle, toplumla ilişkisi incelenmiş; yazıya toplumsal yaygınlık kazandıran Gutenberg matbaası ele alınmıştır. Ancak bu bölüm, yazılı dilin gerek kişisel gelişmede, gerekse de toplumsal gelişmede oynadığı rolün daha iyi kavranabilmesi amacıyla, toplumsal koşullar bağlamında ele alınan yazı ve bilinç birlikteliğiyle desteklenmiştir. Üçüncü bölüm, yazı teknolojisinde bir devrim niteliği taşıyan e-kitabı ve ardındaki teknolojiyi ele almaktadır. Eleştirel düşünce açısından e-kitabın taşıdığı olanaklar, bu konudaki kafa karışıklığının önemli bir sebebi olarak görünen bireysel çıkar ve toplumsal yarar karşıtlığı içinde çözümlenmeye çalışılmaktadır. Son bölümde, emperyalizm çağındaki ezen ve ezilen uluslar/ sınıflar karşıtlığı içinde, e-kitabın özellikle ezilenler lehine sağladığı olanakların, hangi kıstaslar içinde değerlendirilmesi gerektiği üzerinde de kısaca durulmuştur. This study adds the approach of Political Economy of Communication to the domain of Written Communication. It aims at, in the framework of writing technology, drawing a panorama of the relation between communication, communication technology and human beings, considering the outlook of this relation in historical thresholds. The writing technology is investigated within complicated network of relations and in its evolution process, first from natural to mechanic, than from mechanic to electronic, and than to electromagnetic. An alternative is brought to the view, pressed by determinist theories. The written communication is investigated within multi-dimensioned, multi-laminar and complicated relations in the real life. The trails of the developments in writing technology and the possibilities provided by it in the history in terms of critical thought have been followed and it is considered that what technology can provide today and in the near future. Furthermore, the study continuously analyzes the quite sensible association of the consciousness and the technology. The study is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, the prehistoric communication methods of human beings and the transmission process from these methods to the writing have been scrutinized thoroughly. The relations between the civilization and writing have been attempted to be determined along with the invention of the writing. In the second chapter, in a period, when the social life in Europe began to change, the relationship between the writing, and the individual and society has been investigated and Gutenberg's printing press, which provided the writing with social prevalence, has been considered. This chapter, however, is supported with the writing and consciousness association considered in the context of social conditions, in order that the part played by the written language either in individual development or in social development. Third chapter deals with the e-book and its background technology, which have a quality of revolution in writing technology. Possibilities of e-book in terms of critical thought have been attempted to be analyzed within the dichotomy of individual interest and social benefit. In the last chapter, it is also briefly discussed that in which criteria the possibilities provided by e-book in favor of, especially, those oppressed must be evaluated within the opposition of oppressing and oppressed nations/ classes in the imperialism era.
