Din ve siyaset ilişkisi bağlamında Çin'de Tibet Budizmi

Abstract

Tibet tarih boyunca kadim kültürlerin kesiştiği önemli bir bölge olmuş, özellikle 7. yüzyıldan itibaren Tibetli Budist kralların desteğiyle dini, siyasi ve kültürel anlamda büyük bir gelişme göstermiştir. Moğolların bölgeye gelmesi ve bu dini kabul etmesi Tibet Budizmi’ni yerel bir din olmaktan çıkarmış, onun Çin’de, Türkistan’da ve Asya’nın diğer bölgelerinde yaşayan farklı halklar tarafından benimsenmesini sağlamıştır. Tibet Budizmi 19. yüzyılda batılı araştırmacıların dikkatini çekmiş ve çok sayıda kitap ve makaleye konu olmuştur. 20. yüzyılda Çin’in bu bölgeyle alakalı politikaları sebebiyle uluslararası toplumun odak noktalarından biri haline gelmiştir. Bu tezde Tibet Budizmi tarihi içinde gerçekleşen olaylar din - siyaset ilişkisi bağlamında, nedenleri ve sonuçlarıyla incelenmiştir. Bu konuyla alakalı önemli dini ve siyasi kişi ve kurumlar hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir.

Tibet has been an important region during the history where ancient cultures meet. This region has greatly developed in terms of religion, politics and culture with the support of Tibet’s Buddhist kings since the 7th century. The arrival of the Mongolians in this region and their acceptance of this religion transformed Tibetan Buddhism from a local religion to a religion which was adopted by different communities living in China, Turkistan and in the other parts of Asia. This religion attracted the attention of western scholars in the 19th century and became the topic of many books and articles. International community focused on Tibetan Buddhism because of China’s Tibet policy in the 20th century. This thesis examines the incidents in the history of Tibetan Buddhism in the context of religion and politics with their causes and effects. It also gives information about important religious and political people and institutions.
