Farabi’nin mille teorisi

Abstract

Bu çalışma, Farabi’nin mille teorisini ele almakta ve bu teori aracılığıyla Farabi’de din, felsefe ve siyaset ilişkilerine açıklık kazandırmayı hedeflemektedir. Mille terimi, Farabi’de “ilk başkanın toplum için tasarladığı şartlarla belirlenmiş, kayıtlandırılmış görüşler ve fiiller” anlamına gelmektedir. Dolayısıyla hem siyasi bir içeriğe, hem de (ilk başkanın peygamber olduğu durumlar düşünüldüğünde) dini bir içeriğe sahiptir. Bunun yanı sıra mille, “görüşler ve fiiller” olması bakımından felsefe ile de sıkı bir ilişki içerisindedir. Çünkü Farabi’ye göre milledeki görüşler felsefedeki hakikatlerin temsilleri, milledeki fiiller de felsefedeki külli ilkelerin cüz’i durumlara uygulanmış halleridir. Bu durum, milleyi hem siyasetle hem de felsefeyle ilişkili kılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada sırasıyla mille teriminin anlamı ve bu kavramın içeriği, millenin felsefe ile olan ilişkisi ve millenin insanların sosyo-politik organizasyonuyla, yani medineyle olan ilişkisi inceleme konusu yapılmıştır.

In this dissertation, I examined al-Farabi’s theory of milla and tried to clarify the relationships between religion, philosophy and politics in al-Farabi’s philosophy. According to al-Farabi, the term milla means “opinions and actions which is determined and limited by the conditions prescribed for a community by their first ruler”. Therefore it has both political and (and considering that the first ruler can also be a prophet) religious meanings at the same time. In addition to that, being as “opinions and actions”, milla is also firmly related with philosophy, since according to al-Farabi opinions in milla are representations of the theoretical truths in philosophy and actions in milla are particular applications of the universal principals in philosophy. Hence, it could be easily said that milla is related with both philosophy and politics. In this thesis, I studied these three subjects respectively: the meaning of the term milla and its contents, the relationship between milla and philosophy, and the relationship between milla and socio-political organization of human beings, namely madina.
