Career planning, performance assessment and a practical example

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, insan kaynakları yönetimi literatüründe son yıllarda küreselleşme, teknolojik ilerlemeler, demografik değişimler, organizasyon yapılarındaki ve çalışan değerlerindeki değişmeler sonucunda oluşan farklılıkların incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda özellikle kariyer planlama ve performans değerleme konularına odaklanılmıştır. Kariyer planlama ve geliştirme konusunda geleneksel ve çağdaş yaklaşımlar gözden geçirilmiştir. Performans değerleme konusundaki değişimlerle ilgili genel bir çerçeve sunulmuş, çağdaş yöntemler incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, Türkiye'deki kariyer planlama ve performans değerleme uygulamalarının, literatüre uygunluğu ile ilgili iki çalışmadan kısaca bahsedilmiştir. Bir firma analiz edilerek, bu bulguların gerçeği ne ölçüde yansıttığı incelenmiştir. Sonuç bulguları desteklemektedir.

This thesis aims at surveying the recent changes in the human resources management literature resulting from globalization, technological advancements, demographical changes, changes in the nature of organizations and in the employee values. The focal point is career planning and performance assessment. The traditional and contemporary approaches to career planning and development are reviewed. A general framework of changes in the performance assessment is provided and contemporary methods are studied. Further, the results of two researches regarding the parallelism of Turkish companies' career planning and performance evaluation practices to the literature are explained. A company is analyzed in order to test whether these results reflect the truth. The findings support the research results.
