İstanbul’da camiye tahvil edilen kiliselere yapılan ekler

Abstract

İstanbul’un Osmanlı Devleti tarafından fethedilmesiyle beraber başlayan süreçte; öncelikle Ayasofya olmak üzere, şehirde bulunan kiliselerden bazıları, muhtelif sebeplerden ötürü cami yâhut mescide tahvil edilmiş ve mezkûr uygulamaların akabinde de kazanmış oldukları yeni hüviyetlerinin gerekliliklerine uygun şekilde düzenlenerek, her birinin gerek iç mekânlarına gerekse de dış kısımları ile çevrelerine birtakım ekler yapılmıştır. Çalışmamız kapsamında; uzun ömürleri boyunca uğradıkları değişiklikler ve müdahaleler sonucunda, oldukça fazla katmanlı ve karmaşık bir hale gelen söz konusu mâbedlerin tamamı tespit edilerek; zaman içerisinde geçirdikleri değişimler ve bunlara ilave edilen unsurlar incelenmiştir.

In the process that started with the conquest of Istanbul by the Ottoman Empire; some of the churches in the city, including Hagia Sophia as a prime example, have been turned into mosques after which they have been redesigned in harmony with the requirements of their new identity and some internal and external additions have been made. Also those which are large enough to serve as mosque have been transformed into complexes by building various additional structures around. Within the scope of our study; these religious structures which have become substantially complex as a result of the changes and interventions they have undergone during their long life; have been determined and the elements added to them over time have been examined.
