Abstract
TARİH ÖĞRETİMİNDE TARİHİ ROMANLARIN YERİ - MEHMED NİYAZİ’NİN ROMANLARI Bu çalışmada tarih ve edebiyat ilişkisi içerisinde, tarihi romanların tarih öğretiminde kullanılması üzerinde durulmuştur. Tarih öğretiminde kullanılabilecek tarihi romanlara örnek olarak Mehmed Niyazi’nin, 1910’lu yıllarda Batı Trakya’da meydana gelen gelişmeleri konu edindiği “Yazılamamış Destanlar”; Birinci Dünya Savaşı’nda Çanakkale Cephesi’ni anlatan “Çanakkale Mahşeri” ve 20. yüzyılın başından Mondros Mütarekesi’ne kadar Yemen ve Yemen’deki gelişmelere bağlı olarak Arap Yarımadası’ndaki olayları konu edindiği “Yemen! Ah Yemen!” adlı eserleri incelenmiştir. İlk ve orta öğretim kurumlarında tarih öğretiminden istenilen verimliliğin alınamadığı, tarih derslerinin öğrencinin ilgisini çekmekten uzak olduğu, çeşitli araştırmalar sonucunda dile getirilmiştir. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda tarih öğretiminde yeni yaklaşımlara ihtiyaç duyulmuştur. Yaptığımız çalışmayla eğitim kurumlarında, son yıllarda popülerliği artan tarihi romanlardan faydalanılmasının öğrencileri etkin kılması, tarihsel bilincin ve milli şuurun oluşmasına katkısı irdelenmiştir. Yapılan çalışmayla tarihi romanların özellikleri incelenmiş ve tarih öğretiminde kullanılması uygun olan tarihi romanın özelliklerinin neler olması gerektiği üzerinde de durulmuştur. Bu çalışma son yıllarda sosyal bilimlerde yaygın olarak kullanılan ve genel kabul gören nitel araştırma teknikleriyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama metodu olarak tarama modeli ve nitel araştırma teknikleri doğrultusunda doküman analizi yapılmıştır. Anahtar sözcükler: Tarih, roman, tarih öğretimi, tarihi roman, tarihsel bilinç
THE ROLE OF NOVELS IN HISTORY TEACHING - MEHMED NİYAZİ’S NOVELS In this study according to history and literature relationship, we will question how important history books to be used in teaching history. As examples of books that could be used in teaching history “Yazılamamış Destanlar” that Mehmet Niyazi wrote about events happening in Batı Trakya in 1910s, “Çanakkale Mahşeri” that gives ideas about what happened in Çanakkale side in World War One and “Yemen! Ah Yemen!” he wrote about Arabian Peninsula according to Yemen and events in Yemen from beginning of 20th Century to Mondros Mütarekesi have been analyzed. It is clear depending on some researches that in primary and secondary school education expected productivity can’t be provided in history lessons and students don’t show interest to the lesson. Because of this reason new approaches are required in history teaching. In the wake of our studies we realized that benefiting from some novels that have been popular nowadays we can make the students active and it will play an important role on students to gain historical knowledge and national consciousness. By the help of our studies, the features of historical novels have been analyzed. The historical books which are suitable to be used in history teaching has to be formed depending on real historic events, time, places and characters in terms of serious researches and responsibility of reflecting history. These researches have been formed by qualitative searching teaching techniques which is common and generally accepted in social science. As a data method, searching sources method and documentary analysis have been used. Key words: History, novel, history teaching, historical novel, historical consciousness.
