Türkiye'de fotoğraf eleştirisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın temel amacı Türkiye’de ağırlıklı olarak pratik yönüne odaklanılan fotoğrafın teorik yanına eleştirel bir katkı sunmaktır. Eleştirinin yıkmaktan ziyade bir inşa etme biçimi olarak referans alındığı çalışmada üç ana başlık bulunmaktadır. Eleştirinin felsefi, edebî, toplumsal ve sanatsal yönlerini tartışan ilk bölüm Alman filozof Immanuel Kant’ın üç eleştirisinden (Saf Aklın Eleştirisi, Pratik Aklın Eleştirisi, Yargı Gücünün Eleştirisi) hareketle başlatılmıştır. Bu felsefi girişin gerekçesi, Kant’ın eleştirel metinlerinin Batı’nın yalnızca edebiyat, felsefe ve sanat eleştirisi literatürünü genişletirken değil fotoğraf eleştirisi türlerini şekillendirirken de etkin olmasıyla temellendirilebilir. Modernizmden postmodernizme fotoğrafın değişen formlarına dikkat çekilen ikinci bölümde ise fotoğraf eleştirisinin bu dönüşümden nasıl etkilendiğine değinilerek fotoğraf eleştirisinde bilgi, bağlam ve yorumun bütünlüklü ilişkisinin altı çizilmiştir. Fotoğraf eleştirisinin yalnızca kişisel izlenimler ve duygular aracılığıyla yapıldığında eksik kalacağı argümanını savunan çalışmanın üçüncü ve son bölümünde ise özgün bir fotoğraf eleştirisi seçkisi sunulmuştur. Sadece Türkiyeli fotoğrafçıların Türkiye’de ürettiği fotoğraf projelerinden seçilen örneklem, çalışmanın kavramsal çerçevesinde yer verilen yöntemler aracılığıyla eleştirilmiştir. Psikanaliz, göstergebilim, Marksizm gibi kuramların kullanıldığı eleştirilerde aynı zamanda betimleme, yorumlama, yargılama, karşılaştırma ve metinlerarasılık gibi metodlardan da yararlanılmıştır. Türkiye literatüründe fotoğraf eleştirisi kapsamında yazılmış ilk sanatta yeterlik tezi olan çalışmanın gelecekte fotoğraf ve eleştiri kapsamında tasarlanacak akademik yayınlara mütevazı bir katkı yapması hedeflenmektedir.

Primary purpose of this study is to make a critical contribution to the theoretical aspect of photography which is mainly focused on from a practical point of view in Turkey. In the study which refers to criticism as a way of building rather than destroying, there are three main topics. The first section discussing the philosophical, literary, social and artistic aspects of criticism is grounded on the German philosopher Immanuel Kant’s three critiques. The reason of this philosophical introduction may be because Kant’s critical texts were effective on not only expanding the literary, philosophical and artistic criticism literature of the west, but also on shaping the photography criticism genres. The second section drawing attention to the changing forms of photography from modernism to postmodernism mentions how photography criticism has been affected by this transformation and stresses the complete relationship of method, knowledge, context and interpretation in photography criticism. The third and final section of the study arguing that photography criticism would be inadequate when done only via personal impressions and emotions offers a unique selection of photography criticism. The sample which was chosen only from the photography projects produced by Turkish photographers in Turkey was criticized via the methods included in the conceptual framework of the study. The criticisms were done using theories like psychoanalysis, semiotics and Marxism, as well as methods like description, interpretation, judgment, comparison and intertextuality. The study which is the leading thesis written on proficiency in art within the scope of photography criticism in Turkey’s literature is expected to make a humble contribution to further academic publications to be designed within the scope of photography criticism.
