Publication: II. DÜNYA SAVAŞI ERTESİ ABD'DEN GEMİ ALIMI VEZİNCİRKIRAN KOMİSYONU'NUN FAALİYETLERİ
Abstract
Türkiye II. Dünya Savaşı yıllarında yurt dışından gemi satın alarak ticaret filosunu takviye etme imkânından yoksundur. Savaş ertesi ise Avrupa ve Amerika'dan gemi satın alma imkânı doğdu. Bu amaçla içlerinde Devlet Denizyolları İdaresi yetkililerinin de bulunduğu bir komisyon yurt dışına gönderildi. Bu komisyonun faaliyetleri sonucu 2 şilep İsveç'ten, 2 tanker, 7 yolcu gemisi ve 8 şilep ABD'den olmak üzere toplam 19 gemi satın alındı. Bu makalede adı geçen komisyonun Türkiye ile yazışmalarından (telgraflar) yararlanarak gemi satın alımı sürecinde hangi kriterlerden yararlandığı, dolaysıyla Türkiye'nin savaş ertesi ne tip gemilere ihtiyaç duyduğu incelenmektedir. Telgrafların ilk kez bu makalede kullanıldığı ve komisyonun faaliyetlerinin de ilk kez bu makalede ele alındığını ifade etmek gerekir
During the Second World War, Turkey was deprived of strengthening its commercial shipping through purchasing ships abroad. However, after the war, it became possible to purchase ships from Europe and the USA. For this purpose, a commission including also authorities from State Maritime Administration (Devlet Denizyolları İdaresi) was sent abroad. Thanks to the activities of this commission, two cargo ships from Sweden, seventeen ships including two tankers, seven ships and eight cargo ships from the USA, hence, totally nineteen ships were bought. This article examines the criteria this commission used in the purchasing process; thus, the ship types Turkey needed then. It should also be noted that the activities of the commission mentioned have first been involved and studied in this article
