Bilim, fen ve teknoloji kulübünde uygulanan etkinliklerin lise öğrencilerinin bilimsel sorgulama anlayışlarına etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, bir lisede yürütülen öğrenci kulüplerinden Bilim, Fen ve Teknoloji Kulübünün, 11. sınıf öğrencilerinin bilimsel sorgulamalarına ilişkin etkisi incelenmiştir. Bu doğrultuda çalışmada eylem araştırması deseninden uygulamalı eylem araştırması kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu bir devlet lisesinde öğrenim gören, okulun Bilim, Fen ve Teknoloji kulübüne üye 11. sınıf öğrencilerinden gönüllülük esasına dayalı yer alan 11 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak, bilimsel sorgulama süreçlerinin daha iyi anlaşılması için Lederman vd. (2014) tarafından geliştirilen Bilimsel Sorgulamaya İlişkin Görüşler Formu (The Views About Scientific Inquiry Questionnaire, VASI Anketi) kullanılmıştır. Bilimsel Sorgulamaya İlişkin Görüşler Anketi bilimsel sorgulamanın sekiz alt boyutunu inceleyen yedi açık uçlu sorudan oluşmaktadır ve kulüp çalışmaları başlamadan önce öğrencilerin gönüllülük esasına dayalı olarak uygulanmıştır. Kulüp çalışmalarına başlamadan önce katılımcı öğrencilere öntest, çalışmalar tamamlandıktan sonra da sontest olarak uygulanmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra, çalışmada öğrencilerle yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya katılan öğrencilerin anket sorularına verdikleri cevaplar boş, naif, kısmen bilinçli ve bilinçli olarak sınıflandırılmıştır. Çalışmanın bulguları bilimsel sorgulamanın farklı boyutları açısından incelendiğinde, öğrencilerin kulüp etkinlikleri öncesinde genellikle naif ve kısmen bilinçli görüşlere sahip olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Kulüp etkinlikleri sonrasında ise bilgili görüşlerin artığı ama naif ve kısmen bilgili görüşlerin devam ettiği görülmüştür. Çalışmanın bulguları doğrultusunda, fen eğitiminde okul dışı öğrenme ortamları ve bilimsel sorgulamaya ilişkin çeşitli öneriler yapılmıştır.

In this study, the effect of Science and Technology Club, one of the student clubs carried out in a high school, on the scientific inquiry of 11th grade students was examined. For the purpose, applied action research from action research design was used in the study. The study group of the research consists of 11 voluntary 11th grade students who are members of Science and Technology Club of a public high school. The Views About Scientific Inquiry Questionnaire (VASI Questionnaire) developed by Lederman et al. (2014) for a better understanding of scientific inquiry was used as a data collection tool. The VASI questionnaire consists of seven open-ended questions that examine eight sub-dimensions of scientific inquiry and was administered to students voluntarily before the start of the science club activities. It was administered to the participant students as a pre-test before the club activities started and as a post-test after the activities were completed. In addition, semi-structured interviews were conducted with students in study. The answers given by the students participating in the study to the survey questions were categorized as empty, naïve, partially informed and informed. When the findings of study were analyzed in terms of different dimensions of scientific inquiry, it was found that students generally had naive and partially informed views before the club activities. After the club activities, it was observed that informed views increased but naive and partially informed views continued. In line with the findings of the study, various suggestions were made regarding out-of-school learning environments and scientific enquiry in science education.
