Abstract
Mevlid, sözlük mânâsını muhtevî, sade bir kelime olmayıp, Hz. Peygamber’in, doğumu vesilesi ile, O’nun, mutlak Kur’ân’a dayalı hayat pratiği etrafında, sevgi ve saygı çerçevesinde birleşildiğinin ifadesi olarak, İslâm âleminde asırlarca itibâr görmüş bir kavramdır. Bu itibâr, bazen siyâsî, bazen fıkhî, bazen sosyo-kültürel sebeplerle, renk ve biçim değiştirse de, içinde bulunduğu topluma ve zamanın icâblarına göre, daima varlığını korumuştur. Zirâ, mevlid, dinî bir görev olmamakla birlikte ezanın bir beldede okunuyor olmasının, o beldenin müslüman toprağı olduğunun bir çeşit ilânı ve zımnen kabulü, aynı zamanda teminatı sayılabileceği türden bir işleve sahib olmuştur.Kısaca denilebilir ki, mevlid, tarih içinde, müslüman bir toplumun, derin şuurunun, tıpkı ezan gibi bir diğer mühim unsuru olmuştur. Bu unsur, yaşadığımız modern zamanın telâkkîleri ile ton kaybına uğrasa da, aslî rengini muhafaza etmeye muhakkak devam edecektir.Özellikle, mevlidi, bir kavram olarak, başka müslüman toplumlardan daha ziyade mânâlandırmış, ona adeta bir medeniyet zarâfeti yüklemiş bizim gibi bir Türk-İslâm toplumunda, mevlid, birleştirici dinî duygunun ve hassâsiyetin göstergesi olmayı daima sürdürecektir.
Mawlid is not just a simple word denoting the lexical meaning but a concept respected by the islamic world for centuries on the occasion of the birth of the Nabi saw around his life practice based absolutely on the Quran as an expression of unison on the basis of care and respect. Though this respect changes form and color due to sometimes political, sometimes jurisprudential, sometimes sociocultural reasons, it always maintained its continuity according to the necessities of the time and the society it belonged. Since the Mawlid, although not a religious duty, has had the function of the kind as the calling out of adhan in a land being a sort of declaration and implicit acceptation that this land is an islamic territory and its assurance as well. In short, it can be said that throughout the history Mawlid just like adhan has been another important constituent of the deep consciousness of a muslim society. Even if this constituent incurred loss of tone because of the considerations of modern times we live, it will definitely continue to preserve its essential color. In particular, in a turkish muslim society like ours which attributed much more meaning to Mawlid as a concept beside other muslim societies and which ascribed to it so to say an elegance of a civilization, the Mawlid will always continue to be the manifestation of the unifying religious senses and sensitivity.
