Publication: Ahmet Mithat Efendi’nin Din Eğitimi Anlayışı
Abstract
AHMET MİTHAT EFENDİ'NİN DİN EĞİTİMİ ANLAYIŞI Ahmet Mithat Efendi, 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısı ile 20. yüzyılın başlarında yaşayan, daha çok edebiyatçı kimliğiyle tanınan bir aydınımızdır. Ancak o, tarih, coğrafya, kimya, biyoloji, iktisat, din, felsefe, hukuk, dil ve edebiyat, eğitim gibi hemen hemen her alanla ilgili eser yazmıştır. O, Osmanlı Devleti'nin her yönden büyük sıkıntı ve bocalama yaşadığı bir döneminde, bu sıkıntılardan kurtulması ve ilerlemenin sağlanabilmesinin ancak eğitim ve öğretimle mümkün olacağını görerek, eserleriyle halka yol gösteren büyük bir halk eğitimcisidir. Bu tezde Ahmet Mithat Efendi'nin birebir çocuk eğitim ve öğretimiyle ilgili yazdığı kitapları temel alınarak, onun genel eğitim ve din eğitimi ile ilgili görüş ve tavsiyeleri ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Öncelikle onun hayatı, eserleri ve yaşadığı dönem eğitim özellikleri verilerek, dönemi içerisindeki yeri ve etkisi ifade edilmeye çalışılmıştır. İkinci bölümde aile, okul ve sosyal çevre başlıkları altında onun genel olarak eğitim ve öğretim görüşleri ele alınmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde ise, onun din eğitim ve öğretimiyle ilgili görüşlerine yer verilmiştir. Sonuçta döneminde yoğun olarak yaşanan batılılaşma hareketlerine karşı gösterdiği sentezci tavrının, eğitim ve öğretim anlayışında da söz konusu olduğu görülmüştür. O, yeni usûl taraftarıdır ve kendi tecrübeleriyle de deneyerek, yeni usûle göre verilen eğitim ve öğretimin çok daha faydalı olduğunu görmüştür. Ona göre, öncelikle çocuklara kendi milletlerinin din, ahlâk ve kültürlerinin öğretilmesi gerekir. Bunun yanında onlara mutlaka Batı ilim, kültür ve teknolojisini de öğretmelidir. AHMET MİTHAT EFENDİ'S IDEAS ABOUT RELIGION EDUCATION Ahmet Mithat Efendi is one of the intellectual persons who lived in the second half of nineteenth century and in the beginning of twentieth century. But, he wrote books in almost every field like chemics, biology, economy, religion, philosophy, language, literature and education. He thought that Ottoman Empire having a difficult time would only be able to overcome these problems and make progress via education. And he showed ways to the public with his works. In this thesis, taking the works of Ahmet Mithat Efendi about especially child education as basics, his ideas and advices regarding general education and religion education were tried to be introduced. First of all, information was given about his life, his works and the features of education seen during his period of time. Also Ahmet Mithat's influence on his period was tried to be expressed. In the second part, his general education ideas were given under the titles of family, school and social enviroment. In the third part, his ideas about religious education take place. To sum up, it is seen that Ahmet Mithat's attitude uniting different ideas against movements which follow the western styles and are being accepted by the wide part of society in his period, reflects in his thoughts about education. He's the supporter of new style and he experienced that education given according to the conditions and new methods of century was more profitable. To him, firstly children must be taught their own nation's religion ethic and culture. Besides, they should be certainly taught the science, culture and technology of the west.
