Umman'da sosyoekonomik değişim : Sultan Kabus dönemi (1970-2017)

Abstract

Umman Sultanlığı bir zamanlar büyük bir ülke olup, köklü bir medeniyete sahiplik ederken tarihin seyri içinde giderek zayıflamış, etki alanı azalmış ve ülke içinde bölünmelere maruz kalmış ve 16.yüzyılda Portekizlilerin ve daha sonraki yüzyıllarda ise İngilizlerin etkisi altına girmiştir. 1970 yılına kadar ülkenin zayıf durumu devam etmiştir. 1970 yılında ise şu anda ülkenin hala sultanı olan Sultan Kabus bin Said'in İngilizlerin de desteğini alarak kansız bir darbe ile babası Sultan Said bin Teymur'u yönetimden indirip ülkenin başına geçmesiyle Umman'ın tarihinde Arap Rönesansı denilen yepyeni bir sayfa açılmıştır. Bu tezde, Umman'ın 1970-2017 yılları arasında katetmiş olduğu büyük gelişimin süreci ele alınmış ve bu gelişimin günümüze kadar olan seyri ve toplumdaki sosyal, siyasi, iktisadi, dini ve kültürel yansımaları detaylarıyla anlatılmaya çalışılmış ve Umman'ın günümüze kadar olan gelişimi ana hatlarıyla açıklanmıştır. Bu tez ile Umman Sultanlığı'nın kısa sürede büyük bir gelişim gösterilirken aynı zamanda modernlik ile gelenekselliğin birbiriyle başarılı bir şekilde nasıl dengelenebileceğine dair Orta Doğu'da en açık bir örnek olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.

In the past, The Sultanate of Oman was a great country having a rooted civilisation however, in the course of history it gradually weakened having had a tightened impact area and experienced divisions in its society and regions and as a result it felt the pressure of the Portuguese on itself in the 16th century and the British in the following centuries. The country was in a very weak condition till 1970. However in the year of 1970, a brand new page called Arab Renaissance was opened in the history of Oman with Sultan Qaboos' grasp of power from his father Sultan Said bin Teimur with the support of the British. In this thesis, the great change and development process the country has gone through was discussed and also the journey of this process and its social, political, financial, cultural and religious reflections in the society till modern days was told in a detailed way. So, the development process of Oman since 1970 was examined with its main lines. It was observed with this thesis that Oman is a very clear example in The Middle East of bringing the modernity and the traditionalism together successfully and establishing a complete balance between them while developing in many areas with a fast pace.
