Mimar Asım Kömürcüoğlu : Hayatı ve çalışmaları (1879-1957)

Abstract

Çalışmamızda Osmanlı Dönemi ve Cumhuriyet Dönemi mimarlarından Asım Kömürcüoğlu’nun hayatı, eğitimi, restore ve inşa ettiği yapılar, katıldığı mimari yarışmalar ve imar planını hazırladığı şehirler yer almaktadır. Üsküp Kratova’da dünyaya gelen Asım Bey, Yüzbaşı olan babasının mesleği sebebiyle Anadolu’nun çeşitli yerlerinde bulunmuş, buralarda gördüğü tarihi eserlerden etkilenerek eğitimini bu ilgisi üzerine şekillendirmiştir. Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi’nin Mimarlık bölümünden birincilikle mezun olduktan sonra Evkaf Nezaretinde göreve başlamış, burada çeşitli vilayetlerdeki tarihi eserlerin restorasyonunu yapma imkanı bulmuştur. Mimarlık hayatına müteahhitlik ve serbest mimarlık sırasında yaptığı eserler ile devam etmiştir. Mücadeleci bir ruha sahip olan Asım Bey yurt içi ve yurtdışında çeşitli müsabakalara katılmış ve bu yarışmalardan çeşitli dereceler almıştır. Yıllar süren savaşlar sonrası harap hale gelen vatan toprağının her bir köşesine onlarca imar planı hazırlamıştır. Asım Bey restorasyon, inşa ve şehircilik faaliyetleri dışında Mimarların bir çatı altında toplanabilmesi için çabalamış ve Güzel Sanatlar Birliği ile Türk Mimarlar Cemiyeti’nin kurulmasında öncü mimarlarımızdan olmuştur. Meslekte geçirdiği elli iki sene boyunca yabancı mimarların ülkemizde yalnızca öğretmen olarak görev almasını ve yapılacak inşaatların Türk Mimarlar eliyle yapılmasını savunmuştur. Asım Bey’in mimarlık sevgisi ve tutkusu kendisinden sonra çocuklarına, torunlarına ve torunlarının çocuklarına kadar ulaşmıştır. Kömürcüoğlu ailesi dördüncü kuşak ile bir asırdan fazladır Asım Bey’in mimarlık mirasını devam ettirmektedir.

Based on Asım Kömürcüoğlu, one of the Ottoman and Republic Period architects, ur study looks into his life, education, restored and built structures, the architectural competitions he participated in, and the cities where he prepared the zoning plan. Asım Bey, who was born in Skopje Kratova, has been in various parts of Anatolia due to the profession of his father, who is a Captain, and was influenced by the historical artifacts he saw there and shaped his education on this interest. After graduating from the Architecture Department of Sanayi-i Nefise Mektebi with the first rank, he started to work in the Ministry of Foundations, where he had the opportunity to restore historical monuments in various provinces. He continued his architectural life with the works he made during contracting and freelance architecture. Asım Bey, who has a fighting spirit, participated in various competitions at home and abroad and received various degrees from these competitions. He prepared dozens of development plans for each corner of the homeland, which was devastated after years of wars. Apart from restoration, construction and urban planning activities, Asım Bey made an effort to gather Architects under one roof and became one of the leading architects in the establishment of the Fine Arts Union and the Turkish Architects Association. During the fifty-two years he spent in the profession, he advocated that foreign architects should only work as teachers in our country and that the constructions to be made should be done by Turkish Architects. Asım Bey's love and passion for architecture passed onto his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. With the fourth generation, the Kömürcüoğlu family continues the architectural legacy of Asım Bey for over a century.
