Abstract
Modernleşme kelime anlamıyla geleneksel toplum yapılarının, modernizm yolunda ilerlerken geçirdiği süreci betimler ve siyasal, kültürel, sosyal olguların tümünü kapsar. Modern yaşamda, bireyin yaşam tarzını belirleyen ve tetikleyen unsurlar, modernizmin etkisi altında oluşmaktadır ve çeşitli yollarla bunu hayatımızda hissettirmektedir. Sanattan anahtar sözcüklerden biri olarak söz eden Raymond Williams'a göre; Eleştiri ve bilim gibi, sanat sözcüğünün tarihi de, uygarlığımızın işleyişi hakkında oldukça fazla ipuçları vermektedir. Bu çalışmada sanatın amacı ve içeriği sorgulanmakta, tartışılan konu kişinin içsel yolculuğuna kadar gelmektedir. İnsanın kendisini ve çevresini ifade etmeye yardımcı olan fotoğrafın kullanım amacı da burada farklılıklar göstermekte ve bir takım etik tartışmalar çıkmaktadır. Etik açıdan ele alınan fotoğraf ve onun eser ya da haber değerinin irdelenmesi, günümüz sorunlarından olan içimizdeki boşluğun ne olduğu sorusuna cevap verebilmeyi ummaktadır.
In its literal meaning, modernity represents the modernization process of traditional social structures, with all of its political, cultural and social implications. The factors which define and drive life-style of an individual in modern life are formed under the impact of modernism-an impact which manifests itself in different ways in our lives. According to Raymond Williams, who cites art as one of the key words, the history of the word art reveals a wealth of information about how our civilization works, as with the words criticism and science. In this present work, the purpose and content of art are questioned, and the discussion continues with the topic of individual's spiritual journey. Similarly, the purpose of photography, which basically helps us to express ourselves and our environment, differs at this point and gives rise to certain ethical discussions. This ethical approach to photography, and the discussion on the artistic and news value of photographs, is an effort to find the answer to one of today's problems: to understand the inner void in us all.
