Okuma kulüplerinin işlevleri ve okuma kültürüne ve alışkanlığına etkileri

Abstract

Okuma kavramı temelinde gönüllü olarak bir araya gelen ve düzenli biçimde çeşitli okuma etkinlikleri gerçekleştiren topluluklar olan okuma kulüpleri çeşitli genel işlevleri yanı sıra okuma kültürünün/alışkanlığının oluşturulmasında ve geliştirilmesinde önemli rollere sahiptir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ODTÜMD (Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi Mezunlar Derneği) Edebiyat Kulübü’nün, üyelerin sosyal, kültürel, ruhsal, entelektüel yaşamları, kişisel gelişim ve dil-iletişim becerileri ile okuma kültürleri/alışkanlıkları üzerindeki etkilerini ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaç çerçevesinde betimleme yöntemi ile gerçekleştirilen çalışmada halen çalışmalarını etkin biçimde sürdüren ODTÜMD Edebiyat Kulübü’nün 142 üyesine anket uygulanmıştır. Araştırmada kulüpte gerçekleştirilen okuma etkinliklerinin, üyelerin sosyal, kültürel, ruhsal, entelektüel yaşamları, kişisel gelişim ve dil-iletişim becerileri ile okuma kültürlerini/alışkanlıklarını çeşitli açılardan olumlu yönde etkilediği ve üyelerin kulübün işleyişinden memnun oldukları sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Çalışma sonunda hem genelde okuma kulüpleri hem de ODTÜMD Edebiyat Kulübü’ne yönelik bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

Reading clubs, which are communities that voluntarily come together based on the notion of reading and regularly perform diversified reading activities, have significant roles in the formation and development of reading culture/habits, as well as their various general functions. The study proposes to report the effects of the METUAA (Middle East Technical University Alumni Association) Literature Club on the social, cultural, spiritual, intellectual lifes, personal development, and language-communication skills of the members and their reading cultures/habits. In the light of this objective, the research data gathered via a survey from142 members of the METUAA Literature Club, who are actively involved in activities based on the descriptive method. Results revealed that reading activities carried out in the club positively affected the members in terms of their social, cultural, spiritual, intellectual lifes, personal development and language-communication skills, and reading cultures/habits in various aspects and that the members were satisfied with the services of the club. In the conclusion, recommendations related to reading clubs and METUAA Literature Club were presented
