Publication: Fethinden Moğol istilasına kadar Tirmiz tarihi
Abstract
Tirmidh city, which is located within the borders of Uzbekistan today, was first conquered by Saîd b. Osman during the Umayyad Period. Tirmidh, an ancient city, is important in terms of its location because it is on the banks of the Ceyhun river. In this study, the city of Tirmidh has been discussed geographically, politically, economically, scientifically and culturally. By examining the historical process of Tirmidh until the Islamic conquests, it has been revealed what kind of development it followed in the post-Islamic period. The city, which was conquered during the Umayyad Period, was taken back after a long struggle with the rebel Musa b. Abdullah. After that, although the city was under the administration of local Turkish administrators from time to time, it became a place where there was a constant political struggle until the Mongol invasion, due to its strategic location. The city of Tirmidh, showed itself scientifically and culturally as well as political and military events. The city, where many scholars were born and raised, has added vitality to the scientific life with the journeys of other scholars. Since it was located on the important trade routes of the Middle Ages, it provided its economic continuity thanks to both trade and production. In this context, it is a fact that Tirmidh, which we have discussed with its various aspects, will also shed light on the history of the surrounding regions and states of the period.
