Sosyal bütünleşme ve çatışma ekseninde etnisite-spor ilişkisi

Abstract

SOSYAL BÜTÜNLEŞME ve ÇATIŞMA EKSENİNDE ETNİSİTE-SPOR İLİŞKİSİ Bu çalışmanın amacı, sosyal bütünleşme ve çatışmaya kaynaklık eden ve/ veya bütünleşme ve çatışmanın bir dışavurumu olarak sporun, etnisite bağlamında sporcular tarafından nasıl algılandığını ve etnisite ile nasıl ilişkilendirildiğini anlamaya çalışmak ve tartışmaktır. Çalışmada niteliksel araştırma metodolojisi içinde yer alan, araştırma sorusunun ve yöntemin geliştirilmesinde esnek olmayı destekleyen ve sonuç olarak elde edilen bilgilerin daha derinlemesine araştırılmasına fırsat veren “yerinden kuram” stratejisi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada teorik bilgiler konuyla ilgili yazılı kaynakların incelenmesiyle oluşturulmuştur. Araştırma Adıyaman, Batman, Malatya, Siirt ve Şanlıurfa’da 28 elit sporcuyla yapılmıştır. Görüşmelerde toplanan veriler bilgisayar ortamında çözümlenerek sistemli bilgiler halinde sunulmuş, yorumlanmış ve tartışılmıştır. Görüşmeye katılan sporcuların etnik kimliklerinin oluşmasında anadilin, sosyal çevrenin ve ırkın ne kadar önemli olduğu görülmüştür. Yaşanılan bölgenin sosyo-ekonomik açıdan gelişmemiş olması sporcuların fazla seçeneklerinin olmadığını göstermektedir. Bireylerin spora yönelmelerinde çoğunlukla ailelerin olumsuz tutum sergilemesi de önemlidir. Bireylerin spor sayesinde farklı yerler görmelerinin ve farklı insanlarla ilişki içerisine girmiş olmalarının, farklı etnisiteden bireylere yönelik önyargıların ortadan kalkmasında etken olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bunun yanında yetenek ve başarının her türlü etnik farklılaşmanın önüne geçtiği tespit edilmiştir. Aynı bölgede olan, benzer etnisitelerin ağırlıklı olarak varlığını hissettirdiği iller arasında bile sporcuların farklı tutum ve davranışlara maruz kaldığı gözlenmiştir. Sporcular arasında etnisitenin ötesinde genellikle Doğu-Batı ayrımının yapıldığı ortaya koyulmuştur. Sporcular arasında etnisiteyle ilgili genelde benzer bakış açıları ortaya çıksa da, daha çok seyircilerin etnisiteye yönelik olumsuz tezahüratlar yaptığı ve sporcuların bu durumlardan negatif olarak etkilendiği tespit edilmiştir. RELATION OF ETHNICITY AND SPORTS ON THE AXIS OF SOCIAL INTEGRATION AND CONFLICT The aim of this study is to analyze and discuss how sports, as a source of social integration and conflict and/ or expression of integration and conflict, is perceived by the athletes in the context of ethnicity and how it is related with ethnicity. “Grounded Theory” strategy, which is based on the qualitative research methodology, has been used in this study as it supports being flexible on the development of research question and method and also enables more comprehensive investigation of the obtained results. Theoretical information in the study has been obtained by the literature research on this subject. Study has been conducted with 28 elite athletes from the cities Adıyaman, Batman, Malatya, Siirt and Şanlıurfa. After being analysed in an computerized media, data collected from the interviews was presented as systematic information, interpreted and discussed. The degree of importance of the mother tongue, social environment and race on the formation of the ethnical identity of the athletes attending the interview has been examined. It has been observed that athletes do not have much choice since the region they live is not social-economically developed. The common bad attitudes of the families towards their children’s turning to sports are also important. It has been also determined that, seeing new places and establishing relations with different people through sports are the factors of eliminating the bias of the individuals towards the others from different ethnicities. Furthermore it has been found that talent and success overcome any kind of ethnical differentiation. It has been observed that there are different attitudes and behaviours towards the athletes even among the provinces in the same region where similar ethnicities are dominant. It has been revealed that an East-West differentiation beyond ethnicity is displayed among the athletes. Although similar points of views among the athletes related to the ethnicity are generally emerged, it has been observed that the supporters mostly make negative ethnicity oriented demonstrations and as a result the athletes are adversely affected by these demonstrations.
