Çocuk evleri sitesinde çalışan bakım personellerinin duygu düzenleme süreçleri : nitel bir inceleme

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, çocuk evleri sitesinde çalışan bakım personellerinin duygu düzenleme süreçlerini Gross’un Duygu Düzenleme Süreç Modeli rehberliğinde incelemektir. Araştırma, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden fenomenolojik desen ile yürütülmüş ve veri toplama sürecinde yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile sanat temelli metaforik çizimlerden faydalanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu, İstanbul’daki 13-18 yaş arası kız çocuklarının kaldığı belirli bir çocuk evleri sitesinde görev yapan, yaş aralığı 26-55 arasında değişmekten olan, 10 kadın bakım personeli oluşturmuştur. Veriler tematik analiz teknikleriyle yorumlanmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında, bakım personellerinin görevlerini yürütürken sergiledikleri duygu düzenleme süreçleri detaylı bir biçimde incelenmiştir. Bulgular, Gross’un modeline uygun olarak; durum seçimi, durum değiştirme, dikkat yönlendirme, bilişsel yeniden değerlendirme ve tepki düzenleme stratejilerinin yanı sıra sosyal destek, empati ve maneviyat temelli stratejilerin de kullanıldığını ortaya koymuştur. Ayrıca, eşzamanlı yaşanan duygular, kurumsal koşullar, kişilik özellikleri ve mesleki duygusal yönelim gibi bağlamsal faktörlerin duygu düzenleme süreçlerini anlamlı biçimde etkilediği belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın, bakım personellerinin duygu düzenleme becerilerinin yalnızca kendi psikolojik iyi oluşları için değil, aynı zamanda devlet koruması altındaki çocukların duygusal gelişimi için de kritik önemde olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu bağlamda, alanda çalışan profesyonellere yönelik duygu düzenleme temelli eğitim ve destek programlarının geliştirilmesi önerilmektedir. Elde edilen bulguların, hem uygulayıcılar hem de akademisyenler için yol gösterici olması beklenmektedir.

The primary aim of this study is to examine the emotion regulation processes of care personnel working in a children’s home site, within the framework of Gross’s Process Model of Emotion Regulation. Utilizing a phenomenological design, the study adopted qualitative research methods and collected data through semi-structured interviews and metaphor-based expressive drawings. The study group consisted of ten female care personnel, aged between 26 and 55, working at a specific children’s home site in Istanbul that provides care for girls aged 13 to 18. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques. The research explores in detail how care personnel regulate their emotions while performing their professional duties. The findings revealed that, in line with Gross’s model, participants employed antecedent-focused strategies such as situation selection, situation modification, attentional deployment, and cognitive reappraisal, as well response modulation. Additionally, the use of social support, empathy, and spirituality-based strategies emerged as significant emotion regulation methods. Contextual factors such as co- occurring emotions, institutional conditions, personality traits, and emotional orientation toward the profession were also found to significantly influence emotion regulation processes. The study highlights that the emotion regulation skills of care personnel are not only essential for their own psychological well-being but are also critically important for the emotional development of children under state protection. Accordingly, the development of training and support programs centered on emotion regulation for professionals working in such settings is strongly recommended. The findings are expected to serve as a guiding resource for both practitioners and scholars in the field.
