Yahya Kemal Beyatlı'nın elçilik ve Büyükelçilik yılları (1926-1949)

Abstract

Bu çalışmada ünlü şair Yahya Kemal Beyatlı'nın diplomasi alanında yapmış olduğugörevler anlatılmıştır. Yahya Kemal'in diplomatik faaliyetleri ilk olarak Lozangörüşmelerine giden heyette basın danışmanı olarak yer almasıyla başlamıştır. Daha sonrakendisi Urfa Mebusu iken Türkiye Suriye Sınır Heyeti'nde görev almıştır. Buradakiçalışmalarından dolayı 1926 yılında Polonya'ya Orta Elçi olarak atanmıştır. PolonyaElçiliği'ndeki görevi bittikten sonra Yahya Kemal'in yeni görevi 1929 yılında İspanyaolmuştur.Yahya Kemal, İspanya Elçisi iken uhdesine Portekiz Elçiliği 'de verilmiştir. AncakYahya Kemal'in bu görevlerinde yapmış olduğu bazı diplomatik hatalar 1932 yılında onunelçilik görevinden uzaklaştırılmasına sebep vermiştir. Daha sonraki aşamada Yahya Kemalbir süre Paris'te yaşamak mecburiyetinde kalmıştır. Ama kıymetli dostları vasıtasıylaTürkiye'ye geri dönmüştür. 1948 yılında kadar çeşitli görevlerde bulunmuştur;milletvekilliği, CHP sanat müşavirliği gibi. Ayrıca bu görevleri onun edebiyat ve tarihalanlarında konferanslar vermesini engellememiştir. Kendisi bu dönemde çeşitlikonferanslarda vermiştir. 1946 yılındaki seçimlerde Recep Peker'in ısrarlarıyla milletvekiliadayı olan ancak seçilemeyen Yahya Kemal'in verdiği bu zahmetler boşa gitmemiştir. Ve1948 yılında yıllardır beklediği elçilik görevine hem de Büyükelçi unvanıyla kavuşmuştur.Türkiye nezdinde Pakistan Devleti'nin ilk Büyükelçisi olmuştur. 1949 yılında DışişleriBakanlığı'ndan yaş haddini doldurması nedeniyle emekli olmuştur.

This present study covered the missions of the famous poet, Yahya Kemal Beyatlı,in the field of diplomacy. Starting to his diplomatic services as a press consultant in thecommittee that was going for the negotiations of Lausanne, Yahya Kemal then took part inthe Turkey- Syria border committee when he was the representative of Urfa. Being assignedas minister plenipotentiary to Poland after his efforts on his previous mission, he was thenassigned as the ambassador of Spain in 1929.When he was in Spain, he was given the responsibility of Portugal Embassy.However, some mistakes that he made instead of fulfilling this duty caused him to bedismissed in 1932. Obliged to live in Paris for a while, Yahya Kemal could go back to hiscountry with the help of his friends. Until 1948 he served as a deputy and CHP ArtCounsellor. This missions of him did not prevent him to give conferences in the field ofliterature and history, he could find the possibility to carry out the evaluation of severalsubjects. With the insistence of Recep Peker, he became the candidate of deputyship.Although he could not be elected, Yahya Kemal was assigned as the ambassador, the duty ofembassy that he was waiting for years, in 1948 with the help of his works during this periodof election. Being the first ambassador of the Pakistan Government in the presence of Turkey,Yahya Kemal was retired of the age margin from The Department of the Foreign Ministry in1949.
