Bilim çocuk dergisindeki konuların sosyal bilgiler dersinde kullanılması

Abstract

ÖZETBİLİM ÇOCUK DERGİSİ’NDEKİ KONULARIN SOSYAL BİLGİLER DERSİNDE KULLANILMASIBu araştırmada Bilim Çocuk Dergisi’nin konularıyla 4,5,6 ve 7’nci sınıf Sosyal Bilgiler dersi konu – kazanım - öğrenme alanıyla ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Araştırmada 1998-2016 yılları arasında yayımlanan dergiler içerik analizine tabii tutulmuştur. Analiz sonucunda çıkan bulgular; 4, 5, 6 ve 7’nci sınıf sosyal bilgiler ders kitabında yer alan konular ile karşılaştırılıp çıkan veriler; konular- kazanım- öğrenme alanı başlıkları ile verilmiştir. Araştırmanın katılımcıları İstanbul ili, Beyoğlu ilçesinde 6 ilköğretim okulunda görev yapan farklı hizmet yıllarına sahip 17 öğretmenden oluşmaktadır. Katılımcı öğretmenlerin 1’i müdür yardımcısı, 4’ü sınıf öğretmeni, 12’si sosyal bilgiler öğretmenidir. Araştırmada veri toplama araçları olarak içerik analizi ve mülakat kullanılmıştır. Bu araçlar kullanılırken daha önce yapılmış olan araştırmalar dikkate alınmış; mülakat soruları için uzman görüşlerine başvurulmuştur. Mülakattaki amaç öğretmenlerin Bilim Çocuk Dergisi’nin derste kullanılabilirliğini görmek ve bu kullanılabilirlikte EBA ne kadar etkilidir? Sorusuna cevap vermektir.Öğretmenlere sosyal bilgiler dersi, dersin işleyişi, Bilim Çocuk Dergisi’nin derste EBA üzerinde kullanılması başlıkları altında sorular yöneltilmiştir. Yapılan görüşmede öğretmenlerden alınan cevaplara bakıldığında öğretmenlerin gelişen teknoloji ve bilim çağında Bilim Çocuk Dergisi’nin EBA üzerinden kullanılmasının dersin işleyişini daha verimli hale getirdiğini belirtmişlerdir. Öğretmenler; EBA’nın dersi aktif olarak kullanılmasını sağladığını, dersi ilgi çekici hale getirdiğini söylemişlerdir. Derginin kullanılması ile ilgili de dersin verimliliğini artırdığını, öğrencide merak duygusu uyandırdığını belirten öğretmenler devamında; öğrenciyi sorgulayıcı, yaratıcı düşünmeye yönelttiğini, öğrencinin motivasyonunu artırdığını, öğrenmesini kolaylaştırdığını, hayal gücünün gelişmesini sağladığını, öğrenciye bilimsel bakış açısı kazandırdığını belirtmişlerdir.Araştırmada ulaştığımız bulgulara bakıldığında; Bilim Çocuk Dergisi’nin içeriğinin ve kapsamnın Sosyal Bilgiler dersine katkı sağlayacağı sonucuna ulaşılır. Derginin Sosyal Bilgiler programının amaçlarından olan bilim ve teknolojinin kullanımını yaygınlaştırmada önemli bir yere sahip olduğu, 4,5,6 ve 7’nci sınıfların hepsine hitap ettiği, dergide konu dağılımının 4,5, ve 6’ncı sınıf konularının çoğunlukta olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Derginin öğretmenin öğrenciyi derse katmada önemli bir rol oynadığı, derginin EBA üzerinden verilmesinin EBA’nın daha aktif kullanılmasını sağladığı bir diğer sonuçtur. Öneri olarak, dergi öğrencilerin araştırmacı, meraklı, bilimsel düşünmesine katkı sunacağından maddi imkanı olmayan öğrenciler de düşünülerek internet üzerinden abonelik sistemi oluşturulabilinir. Dergide çocuk yazarların olması gerektiği de diğer bir öneri olarak sunulabilinir.

In this research, “Science For Children Magazine” 4, 5, 6 and 7 class Social Sciences course and the connection of these topics in the subject-acquisition-learning area have been studied. In the research, the magazine which has been published between 1998s-2016s were examined in terms of content analyses. Findings after the analysis were compared with the subjects which have been presented in the course book of Social Sciences for 4,5,6,7 classes after that those subjects were arranged with the titles of acquisition and learning area. The participants of this research are totally 17 teachers who have different years of task and in six different primary schools in the province of Beyoğlu. There are also one assistant manager, four class teachers and twelve Social Sciences teachers among participants. In the research, survey and interview methods are used as data collection tools. Beside, using these research tools, previous researches were also reviewed for the inquiries of survey and interview methods and in order to have proper results some of the experts were consulted as well. The main purpose of the interview is to find out the scale of usability of Science For Children Magazine during courses and to observe the effects of EBA on the usability of the magazine. Teachers were asked about Social Sciences course, the course work and usability of Science For Children Magazine on the EBA during the interview. When looking at the results after interviews with teachers, they said that “Using Science For Children Magazine on the EBA system makes courses more efficient, more intriguing and makes EBA more active for the courses”. They also added that; “The magazine raises curiosity and motivation of students about courses and supports enhancing of student’s creativity and vision”.When we looked at the outcomes of our research, it is reached that the information of the content-frame of Science For Children Magazine could contribute to Social Science classes. Thus, the magazine makes EBA more active and key factor for the courses. It is clear that; Science For Children Magazine has a significant role on the purposes of Social Sciences courses which also aim to expend using of technology and science. Science For Children Magazine is fit for the students whose continue their education life in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th classes hence, it is understandable that; the contents of the magazine, also match with the content of courses and class levels. The magazine also plays a significant role for teachers in order to push students course. As suggestion, opportunities to access EBA need to be provided for the students who do not have enough financial resources by creating an appropriate subscription system via Internet and there should be some child writers in the magazine, as well.
