Graffiti sanatının belgesel sinemadaki yansımaları “duvarın sesi”

Abstract

Graffiti, kamu alanlarındaki duvar ya da herhangi bir yüzeye, sprey boyalarla izinsiz yapılan yazı, resim ve sembol şeklindeki uygulamalardır. Graffiti, tüm dünyada yasak olanı yaparak otoriteye, devlete, sisteme bir karşı duruştur. Fakat aynı zamanda graffiti, ne amaçla yapılıyor olursa olsun bir yandan da kamusal alanda kendini gösterme, dikkat çekme amacını da taşır. En ulaşılmaz, yakalanmak yönünden en tehlikeli yerlere graffiti yapmak önemlidir graffiticiler arasında. Yani en zoru yapan, kendi çevresi içinde ünlenir. Bu tezde bir duvar sanatı olarak graffiti, öncelikle tarihsel süreç içinde ele alındı. Graffitinin ilk örnekleri olarak görülen ilk çağlardaki uygulamalarından bugüne dek gelişimi anlatıldı. Almanya ve ABD’deki graffitinin gelişiminden sonra Türkiye’de graffiti konusu ele alındı. Türkiye’de graffitinin neden, nasıl yapıldığı, kanunlar karşısındaki konumu açıklandı. Tezin ikinci bölümünde güncel sanatta kamusal alan konusu incelenerek, kamusal alanda yer alan graffitinin sanatla bağları irdelendi. Genel olarak güncel sanatın özellikleriyle graffitinin özellikleri karşılaştırıldı ve graffitinin de bir güncel sanat ürünü olduğu dile getirildi. Tezin üçüncü bölümünde belgesel sinemanın dünyadaki gelişimi anlatılarak ve bugüne dek graffiti konusunda yapılmış filmlerden örnekler verildi. Tezin dördüncü ve son bölümü ise ‘Duvarın Sesi’ filmi ile ilgili bilgilerden oluşuyor. Bu bölümde filmin amacı, konusu, çekim yöntemleri ve künyesi yer aldı. Filmde tercih edilen biçimsel yöntemler ve nedenleri açıklandı. Ekler bölümünde ise ilk olarak filmdeki konuşmalarda geçen terimleri anlayabilmek için gerekli olan bir graffiti terimleri sözlüğü yer alıyor . İkinci olarak, bu tezin ve filmin araştırılması sürecinde en çok yararlandığım, graffitiyi daha iyi tanıyabilmek için incelenebilecek internet sitelerinin adları yer aldı.

Graffiti is the name of performances that appear in forms of words, paintings and symbols on any public surfaces or walls made by spray paint, and with stylistic concerns. Graffitti art rebels against the authority, government and the system by doing the forbidden. Graffitti can be done with various purposes, but it also aims at asserting itself and attracting attention in public locations. Graffitti artists achieve this aim by performing their art in the most impossible locations. In this way, the artist doing the most difficult becomes famous in his circle. In this thesis, graffiti as a wall art is evaluated in historical context. Progress in graffiti, beginning from prehistoric ages until today is studied. The development of graffiti in Germany, USA and Turkey is discussed. Motivations behind graffiti in Turkey, methods and legislative status are explained. In the second part of the thesis, position of public places in contemporary art is studied, and the connection between graffiti in public places and art is discussed. The context of contemporary art in public places is compared with characteristics of graffiti. In the third part, developments in documentary film making in the world is explained, with emphasis on the documentaries about graffiti, until today. The fourth and final section of the thesis is about the movie “Voice of The Wall” which is also the very cause of the existence of this thesis. In this section, the purpose of the film, its synopsis, shooting details and its features are mentioned. The style and method of the film, and why they are preferred are explained. A graffiti terminology is presented as a glossary in the appendix so that the dialogues in the movie would be understood. Also a link list to the web pages that were referred and used during the research of the thesis and the movie, is presented as a second appendix.
