Abstract

Avrupa Birliği üye ve aday ülkelerde sürdürülebilirlik politikalarının çok değişkenli analizi : çevresel, ekonomik ve sosyal boyutların nitel ve nicel verilerle incelenmesi Bu tez, Avrupa Birliği (AB) üye ve aday ülkelerde uygulanan sürdürülebilirlik politikalarını çevresel, ekonomik ve sosyal boyutlarıyla çok yönlü olarak incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın temel hedefi, bu ülkelerdeki sürdürülebilirlik politikalarının etkinliğini anlamak, mevcut stratejileri değerlendirmek ve politika yapıcılar için somut öneriler geliştirmektir. Aynı zamanda bu çalışmanın sürdürülebilirlik alanında çok değişkenli istatistiksel yöntemlerin kullanıldığı analizlerle literatüre katkı sağlanması hedeflenmektedir. Araştırmada karma yöntem stratejisi benimsenmiştir. Bu çerçevede nicel analiz aşamasında Eurostat verileri kullanılarak sürdürülebilirlik göstergelerine faktör analizi uygulanmış, elde edilen faktörler üzerinden kümeleme analizi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu analizlerle ülkeler sürdürülebilirlik profillerine göre gruplanmış ve karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Nicel analizden elde edilen bulgular, nitel analiz aşamasının temelini oluşturmuştur. Bu kapsamda uzmanlarla mülakatlar yapılmış ve içerik analizi yöntemiyle değerlendirilmiştir. İçerik analizleri sayesinde sürdürülebilirlikle ilgili eğilimler, zorluklar ve gelişim alanları ve sınırlılıklar tartışılmış ve genel bir değerlendirme ortaya konmuştur. Tez, giriş ve sonuç bölümleri dışında dört ana bölümden oluşmaktır. Kavramsal ve kuramsal çerçeve, yöntemsel yaklaşımlar, uygulama ve bulgulara dayalı öneriler sunmaktadır. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışma AB ülkelerinin sürdürülebilirlik politikalarını çok boyutlu olarak ele alarak, akademik literatüre katkı sunmakta ve karar alıcılar için pratik yönlendirmeler içermektedir.

A multıvariate analysis of sustainability policies in european union member and candidate countries : examination of environmental, economic, and social dimensions with qualitative and quantitative data This thesis aims to comprehensively examine the sustainability policies implemented in the European Union (EU) member and candidate countries from environmental, economic, and social dimensions. The primary objective of the study is to understand the effectiveness of sustainability policies in these countries, assess existing strategies, and develop concrete policy recommendations for decision-makers. At the same time, the study seeks to contribute to the literature on sustainability through analyses that utilize multivariate statistical methods. A mixed-methods strategy has been adopted for the research. Within this framework, during the quantitative analysis phase, sustainability indicators obtained from Eurostat were subjected to factor analysis, followed by cluster analysis based on the resulting factors. These analyses allowed the countries to be grouped according to their sustainability profiles and assessed comparatively. The findings from the quantitative analysis formed the basis for the qualitative phase of the study. In this context, expert interviews were conducted and evaluated using content analysis. Through content analysis, trends, challenges, areas for development, and limitations related to sustainability were discussed, and an overall assessment was provided. Apart from the introduction and conclusion, the thesis consists of four main chapters, offering the conceptual and theoretical framework, methodological approaches, implementation, and findings-based recommendations. In conclusion, this study provides a multidimensional evaluation of the sustainability policies of EU countries, contributing to the academic literature and offering practical guidance for policymakers.
