Publication: Aziz Augustine bağlamında Hristiyanlık'ta kadın anlayışı
Abstract
Aziz Augustine (354-430); Batı Hristiyanlığının gelişimindeki tartışılmaz etkisi sebebiyle, Hristiyan teolojisinin mimarlarından biri olarak kabul edilmektedir. İncil geleneği ve klasik felsefenin ustaca harmanlanmasından oluşmuş teolojisi Orta çağ ve Reformasyon dünyasına damga vurmuştur. Aziz Augustine, teolojisindeki kadına dair öğretileriyle de oldukça dikkat çekmektedir. Nitekim Batı dünyasında kadınların ikinci sınıf olarak görülmesinin ve cinselliğin bastırılmasının sorumluluğu Augustine’e yüklenmiştir. Bu tez, Aziz Augustine’in kadın algısını ortaya koyacaktır. Mevcut literatürde, Hristiyanlığın kadına dair bakışını oluşturmada mihenk taşı diyebileceğimiz Augustine’in bu konudaki fikirlerini kapsamlı bir şekilde ele alan bir çalışma olmadığı görülmektedir. Modern dönemde çokça tartışılan ve spekülasyonlar üretilen kadın konusunun, Batı dünyasındaki temellerini tespit edebilmek açısından böyle bir çalışmanın yapılması uygun görülmüştür. Yapılan araştırmalar neticesinde, Augustine’in kadına dair fikirlerinin kökenlerine ve hazırlayıcı etmenlerine inilmesi gerekli görülmüştür. Bu bağlamda Antik Roma, Yahudi ve Maniheist geleneklerin kadına bakışı incelenmiştir. Ayrıca Augustine’in kişisel yaşamındaki kırılmaların da bu fikirlere etkisi öngörüldüğünden biyografisi detaylıca ele alınmış ve bu etkiler saptanmaya çalışılmıştır. Nihayetinde Aziz Augustine’in eserlerindeki kadına dair söylemleri ışığında kendisinin kadın algısı tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.

It is evident that there is no comprehensive study in the existing literature that thoroughlyexamines Augustine's ideas on this topic, which can be considered a cornerstone in shaping Christianity's view of women. Given the modern debate and speculation surrounding the issue of women, it is deemed appropriate to conduct such a study totrace the foundations of this topic in the Western world. The research conducted necessitates delving into the origins and preparatoryfactors of Augustine's ideas on women. In this context, the views on women in ancient Roman, Jewish, and Manichaean traditions have been examined. Additionally, considering the potential impact of the ruptures in Augustine's personal life on theseideas, his biography has been thoroughly examined to identify these influences. Ultimately, in light of the discourses on women in Saint Augustine's works, hisperception of women has been analyzed and identified.
