Publication: Genç futbolcularda futbol antrenmanlarına katılımın yaşam becerilerine etkisinin incelenmesi
Abstract
Objective: Humans are inherently social creatures and need to live in a community to survive and interact with others. As the foundation of society, young people also need to have a wide range of life skills to manage their lives and adapt to different life events. Sport, which is considered a popular leisure activity among young people, is said to provide a suitable environment for the development of life skills. This study was conducted to examine the life skills of young football players participating in football training in football teams in terms of various variables. Materials and Methods: The research universe consists of 1179 athletes (aged 13-18) who are licensed to play football in the youth teams of professional and amateur football teams in Istanbul province in the 2022-2023 football season. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using the SPSS 25 package program. Before the statistical analyzes, skewness and kurtosis coefficients were examined to determine whether the data distributions were normal. Levene test was also performed for the homogeneity of variances. For parametric data, independent t-tests (independent sample) were used for pairwise comparisons of independent variables, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for comparisons of more than two groups. Scheffe test was used as a post-hoc test to determine the source of the difference between groups. The level of statistical significance of the results was accepted as p<0.05 Results: Significant differences were found in many life skill subdimensions according to gender, playing status in the team, years of sports participation, place where he/ she spent most of his/ her life, mother's education level, family attitude, family income status and school achievement status. Conclusion: The study found that participation in football training contributes to the development of many life skills in young football players, including time management, communication, goal setting, teamwork, social skills, and emotional skills.
