Kadın görüntü yönetmenleri özelinde toplumsal cinsiyet rollerinin sinema sektöründeki izdüşümü : Sinemanın Görünmeyen Kadınları belgesel filmi

Abstract

Türkiye’de sinemanın tarihsel süreci göz önünde bulundurulduğu zaman sinemanın bir sektör haline gelmesinin uzun zaman aldığı görülmektedir. Bu sektörleşme serüveni henüz dünyadaki örnekleriyle tam anlamıyla uyum gösterememektedir. Sektörleşme sürecinde yaşanan bu sıkıntılar meslek tanımlarının yapılmasını, görev dağılımlarının yeterliliğini ve içeriğini de etkilemiştir. Sineman üretildiği toplumun cinsiyet kodlarının etkisiyle şekillendiği gibi kamera arkasında görev alan kişilerin cinsiyet dağılımında da etkili olduğu düşünülmektedir. Özellikle, iki binli yıllara kadar kamera arkası çalışanlara bakıldığı zaman teknik birimlerde erkeklerin baskın olarak görev aldığı tespit edilmiştir. Bu baskın durumun, sinemanın yapılış şeklini ve sinemanın dilini de etkilediği düşünülmektedir. Özellikle, sinemanın anlatım dilinin ve görsel düzeninin belirlenmesinde etkili olan görüntü yönetmenliğinin kadınlar tarafından icra edilmesi günümüzde hala sinemanın ilk yıllarından öteye geçmediği görülmektedir. Bu çalışmanın ana amacı, bu yolda var olmaya çalışan kadınları engelleyen, zorlayan durumları görünür kılmaktır. Bu durumu araştırabilmek için bu çalışma iki ana aşamada gerçekleştirilmiştir. İlk aşama kapsamında son on yıl içerisinde aktif olarak görüntü yönetmenliği mesleğini yürüten ve kamera gruplarında görev alan uzmanlarla anket çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Hem nitel hem de nicel karma bir yöntem kurulmuştur. Bu aşama sonucunda kamera grubunda kadın olma durumu ve şartları ortaya çıkartılmıştır. İkinci aşama, son yıllarda aktif olarak görüntü yönetmenliği mesleğini yürütenler, set ve kamera gruplarında çalışan uzmanlarla, iyi yapılandırılmış yüz yüze görüşmelerle nitel veri toplanmıştır. Her iki aşamada toplanan verilerle kadın görüntü yönetmenlerinin toplumsal konumu, itibarı, mesleğe ve alana bakış açısı, kariyer gelişimi, sosyo-ekonomik ve kültürel durumu vb. boyutlar içerisinde incelenmiştir. Toplanan veriler, ikinci aşamada elde edilen bulgularla kıyaslanmış, kamera arkası çalışanların cinsiyet dağılımı ile sürece ve sinemaya olan etkisi değerlendirilmiştir. Böylece, toplumsal cinsiyet eşitsizliğinin sinema sektöründe emeği görünmeyen kadınlar üzerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular ve araştırma süreci, karma belgesel formatında esere dönüştürülmüştür. Araştırma ve toplumsal belgesel türlerinin karışımı ile hazırlanan eserde, elde edilen bulgular bir hikâye ile anlatılmıştır. Böylece, sinema anlatısının büyülü gücünden faydalanarak toplumsal cinsiyetin ana akımlaştırılması konusunda bir katkı ve farkındalık yaratmak hedeflenmiştir.

When the historical process of cinema in Turkey, it took a long time for cinema to become a sector. This sectoralisation adventure is not yet in line with the examples in the world. These situation experienced in industrialisation have also affected the definition of professions and the adequacy and content of the distribution of duties. As cinema is shaped by the gender codes of the society in which it is produced, it is also thought to be effective in the gender distribution of the people working behind the camera. In particular, when we look at the employees working behind the camera until the two thousand years, it is determined that men were predominantly employed in technical units. It is thought that this dominant situation also affects the way cinema is made and the cinematography. In particular, it is seen that the practice of cinematography by women, which is effective in determining the narrative language and visual order of cinema, still does not go beyond the early years of cinema. The main purpose of this study is to make visible the situations that hinder and force women who are trying to exist on this path. In order to investigate this situation, this study was carried out in two main stages. Within the scope of the first stage, a questionnaire survey was conducted with experts who have been actively working in the profession of cinematography and working in camera groups in the last ten years. It includes both qualitative and quantitative mixed method. As a result of this stage, the status and conditions of being a woman in the camera group were studied. In the second stage, qualitative data were collected through well-structured face-to-face interviews with those who have been actively working in the profession of cinematography in recent years and experts working in set and camera groups. With the data collected in both stages, the social position, reputation, perspective on the profession and the field, career development, socio-economic and cultural status, etc. of women cinematographers were analysed in dimensions. The collected data were compared with the findings obtained in the second stage, and the gender distribution of the behind-the-camera workers and their impact on the process and cinema were evaluated. Thus, the effect of gender inequality on women whose labour is invisible in the cinema industry was investigated. The findings and the research process were transformed into a work in a mixed documentary format. In the work prepared with a mixture of research and social documentary genres, the findings obtained are told with a story. Thus, it is aimed to contribute to and raise awareness about gender mainstreaming by making use of the magical power of cinema narrative.
