Türkiye’deki yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin kültürel adaptasyonunu etkileyen faktörler üzerine bir araştırma

Abstract

Ekonomik ve kültürel küreselleşmeyle eş zamanlı olarak, yurtdışında eğitim fırsatları, eğitim fırsatları arayan üniversite öğrencileri için giderek daha çekici hale gelmiştir. Ve bu fenomen çeşitli ülkelerde yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin sayısının artmasına neden olmuştur. Yurtdışında eğitim almayı tercih eden yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin sayısının artmasıyla birlikte, Türkiye şüphesiz iyi bir seçimdir. Dünyada ve Türkiye'de uluslararası öğrenci sayısı her geçen yıl artmaktadır. Uluslararası öğrenci hareketliliğinin bu yoğunluğu nedeniyle yükseköğretim kurumları uluslararası öğrencileri ülkelerine çekmeye çalışmaktadır. Bu çabanın tüm etkileri akademik alanda da görülmektedir.Aynı zamanda, yabancı uyruklu öğrenciler adaptasyon sürecinde birçok zorlukla karşı karşıyadır, örn. Türk öğrencilerle grup projeleri yönetmek, kişiler arası ilişkilerle ilgilenmek, akademik sorunları çözmek vb. Bu tez, Ward'ın modeline dayalı olarak sosyo-kültürel ve akademik faktörler açısından incelemektedir. Her yıl katlanarak artan yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin akademik başarıları, karşılaştıkları sorunlar ve bu sorunların çözümü konusunda Türkiye'de yeterince araştırma yapılmamaktadır. Bu nedenlerle bu çalışma, yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin akademik başarı durumlarını, karşılaştıkları sorunları tespit etmeyi ve çözüm önerileri geliştirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın alana katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir. Türkiye’de şuan eğitim görmekte olan veya eğitim görmeyi planlayan yabancı uyruklu öğrenciler ve aynı zamanda daha fazla yabancı uyruklu öğrenciyi çekmeği planlayan üniversiteler için bir kaç önerilerde bulunacak, adaptayon süreçinin kolaylaşmasını hızlandıracaktır. Aynı zamanda bu araştırma Türkiye kültürü üzerinden yapılacaktır ve adaptasyon sorununa bu kültürde verilen cevaplar öneriler şeklinde gösterilecektir, sonuç olarak kültür alanında araştırma yapan akademisyenler de bu araştırmayı kullanma şansına sahip olacaktır.

Simultaneously with economic and cultural globalization, study abroad opportunities have become increasingly attractive to university students seeking educational opportunities. And this phenomenon has led to an increase in the number of foreign students in various countries. With the increasing number of foreign students choosing to study abroad, Turkey is undoubtedly a good choice. The number of international students in the world and in Turkey is growing year by year. Due to this intensity of international student mobility, higher education institutions try to attract international students to their countries. All the effects of this effort are also seen in the academic field. At the same time, foreign students face many difficulties in the adaptation process, eg. Managing group projects with Turkish students, dealing with interpersonal relations, solving academic problems, etc. This thesis examines socio-cultural and academic factors based on Ward's model. There is not enough research in Turkey on the academic success of foreign students, the problems they encounter, and the solution of these problems, which increase exponentially every year. For these reasons, this study aims to determine the academic success of foreign students, the problems they encounter and to develop solutions. In this context, it is expected that the study will contribute to the field. It will make a few suggestions for foreign students currently studying or planning to study in Turkey, as well as universities planning to attract more foreign students, and will speed up the adaptation process. At the same time, this research will be carried out on the culture of Turkey and the answers to the adaptation problem in this culture will be shown in the form of suggestions. As a result, academicians doing research in the field of culture will have the chance to use this research.
