Ücretli öğretmenlik: Bir metafor çalışması

Abstract

Bu araştırmada resmi okul öncesi, ilkokul, ortaokul ve lise kademelerinde görev yapan okul yöneticilerinin, kadrolu öğretmenlerin ve ücretli öğretmenlerin “Ücretli Öğretmenlik” kavramına yönelik metaforik algılar saptanmak istenmiştir. Bu doğrultuda bir nitel araştırma yöntemi olarak metafor analizinden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu İstanbul ilinde görev yapan 146 katılımcı oluşturmaktadır. Veri toplama aracı olarak, araştırmacı tarafından oluşturulmuş, çeşitli demografik soruları da yer aldığı ve “Ücretli öğretmenlik… gibidir çünkü…” ifadesini içeren bir form kullanılmıştır. Toplanan veriler içerik analizi kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Verilerin analizi sonucunda 146 katılımcı tarafından “Ücretli Öğretmenlik” kavramına yönelik 70 farklı metafor üretilmiştir. Katılımcılar tarafından üretilen metaforlar 7 ana kategori ve alt kategoriler altında toplanmıştır. Bu kategoriler: “Adaletsizlik” ana kategorisi altında “ücret adaletsizliği” ve “özlük haklarındaki adaletsizlik” alt kategorileri, “Güvence” ana kategorisi altında “mesleki güvence”, “sosyal güvence” ve “gelecek kaygısı” alt kategorileri, “Mesleki İtibar” ana kategorisi altında “olumlu itibar” ve “olumsuz itibar” alt kategorileri ile “Emek ve Mücadele”, “İhtiyaç/ Zorunluk”, “Eğitimin Niteliği” ve “İstihdam Sorunu” ana kategorileri olarak belirlenmiştir. Katılımcılar tarafından “Ücretli Öğretmenlik” kavramına yönelik en çok üretilen dört metaforun ise sırasıyla; “Kölelik”, “Mevsimlik İşçi”, “Adaletsizlik” ve “Üvey Evlat” olduğu görülmüştür.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the metaphorical perceptions of school administrators, permanent (/full-time) teachers and paid teachers working in the official preschool, primary, secondary, and high school levels towards the concept of "paid teaching". The method of the study is metaphor analysis which is one of the qualitative research designs. The study group of the research consisted of 146 participants working in Istanbul. As a data collection tool which was formed by the researchers participants were given a promt “Paid teaching is like… because…” with some demographic questions. The collected data were analyzed using content analysis. As a result of the analysis of the data, 70 different metaphors for the concept of "paid teaching" were produced by 146 participants. The metaphors produced by the participants were gathered under 7 main categories and subcategories. These categories are as follows: subcategories of “wage injustice” and “injustice in personal rights” under the main category of “Injustice”, subcategories of “occupational security”, “social security” and “future anxiety” under the main category of “Assurance”, subcategories of “positive reputation” and “negative reputation” under the “Professional reputation” main category, and “Labor and struggle”, “Need/necessity”, “Quality of Education”, “Employment Problem” main categories. The five most produced metaphors by the participants for the concept of "Paid Teaching" are respectively “Slavery”, “Seasonal Worker”, “Injustice” and “Stepson”.
