Matematik eğitiminde gerçekçi matematik eğitimi uygulamalarının öğrencilerin akademik başarı ve problem çözmeye yönelik tutumlarına etkisi

Abstract

Bu çalışmada 6.sınıfta gerçekçi matematik eğitimi uygulamaları ile gerçekleştirilen matematik öğretimin, öğrencilerin matematik akademik başarısı ve matematik problemi çözmeye yönelik tutumları üzerine etkileri incelenmiştir. Araştırma 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim yılı ikinci döneminde, İstanbul ili Eyüpsultan ilçesinde bulunan bir devlet okulunun 6.sınıfında öğrenim gören 66 öğrencinin katılımı ile, 6.sınıf cebirsel ifadeler ve veri analizi konuları üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmada nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden ön test sontest deney ve kontrol gruplu yarı deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. 6 hafta süren çalışma süresince deney grubuna gerçekçi matematik eğitimi yaklaşımı ile planlanmış etkinlikler uygulanmış, kontrol grubuna MEB müfredatına uygun olarak matematik ders kitaplarındakietkinlikler çerçevesinde öğretim yapılmıştır. Çalışmada öğrencilerin başarı verileri, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen, geçerlik ve güvenirliği bu dersi daha önce almış 139 kişilik bir öğrenci grubu üzerinde pilot uygulama yapılarak test edilmiş, madde analizleriyapılmış, 30 soruluk akademik başarı testi ile toplanmıştır. Akademik başarı testi ve matematik problemi çözme tutum ölçeği ön test son test ölçümlerinden elde edilen veriler, bağımlı ve bağımsız gruplar t testleri ile analiz edilerek değerlendirilmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre deney grubunda akademik başarının ve matematik problemi çözme tutumunun, kontrol grubuna göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği, bununla birlikte deney grubunda, kontrol grubuna göre tüm değişkenlerde puan artışının daha fazla olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.

In this study, the effects of teaching with realistic mathematics education practices on students' academic achievement in mathematics and their attitudes towards mathematics problem solving in 6th grade were examined. The research was carried out in the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, with the participation of 66 students studying in the 6th grade of a public school in the Eyüpsultan district of Istanbul, on the subjects of 6th grade algebraic expressions and data analysis. In the study, a quasi-experimental design with pretest, posttest, experimental and control groups, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used. During the 6-week study, activities planned with the realistic mathematics education approach were applied to the experimental group, while the control group was taught within the framework of the activities in mathematics textbooks in accordance with the Ministry of Education curriculum. In the study, students' achievement data were collected with a 30-question academic achievement test developed by the researcher, whose validity and reliability were tested by a pilot application on a group of 139 students who had taken this course before, item analysis was performed. The data obtained from the academic achievement test and mathematics problem solving attitude scale pre-test post-test measurements were analyzed and evaluated with dependent and independent groups t tests. According to the results obtained, it was concluded that academic achievement and mathematics problem solving attitude in the experimental group did not show a significant difference compared to the control group, however, the increase in scores in all variables was higher in the experimental group than in the control group.
