Abstract
BANKACILIK SEKTÖRÜNDE ETİK KODLARIN KARAKTERİSTİĞİ VE ETİK ETKİSİNİ GELİŞTİRME MODELİNİN ÖZEL SERMAYELİ MEVDUAT BANKALARI ÜZERİNE UYGULANMASI Etik kavramı son dönemlerde hem akademik hem iş dünyası hem de sivil toplum örgütlerinin yakından ilgilendiği bir olgu haline gelmiştir. Özellikle finans piyasalarında yakın dönemlerde yaşanan ve bankacılık krizlerine de yol açan etiksel sorunlar, bankacılık sektöründe etik alt yapısını oluşturmaya yönelik çalışmaların yoğunlaşmasına ve sonucunda da Türkiye Bankalar Birliği Etik İlkelerinin 2006 yılında yürürlüğe girmesine neden olmuştur. Bu çalışmada Türk bankacılık sektöründeki etik ilkelerin, Etik Etkisini Geliştirme Modeli ışığında analiz edilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, etik, iş etiği ve etik kodların teorik alt yapısı ve Etik Etkisini Geliştirme Modeli’nin bileşenleri incelenmiş ve modelin bankacılık etik ilkelerinin etkililiğini ölçmeğe yönelik bir araştırma yapılmıştır. Türk Bankacılık sektöründe Özel Sermayeli Mevduat Bankaları araştırmanın kapsamını oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın bulguları istatiksel analize tabi tutularak sonuçları irdelenmiştir. Özel Sermayeli Mevduat Bankalarının genel ve Etik Etkisini Geliştirme Modeli’nin bileşenleri bazında değerlendirilmesi yapılarak, gerçekleştirilen test sonuçlarına göre, öne sürülen hipotezler doğrulanmıştır. Yapılan araştırma sonucuna göre bankanın yazılı etik kodlarının bankanın tüm ilişkilerini olumlu etkilediği söylenebilir. CHARACTERISTICS OF ETHICAL CODES IN THE BANKING SECTOR AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A DEVELOPMENT MODEL OF ETHICAL EFFECTIVENESS FOR PRIVATELY-OWNED DEPOSIT BANKS The concept of ethics, in recent years of considerable interest in academia, as well as among the business world and non-governmental organizations, has become a phenomenon. Ethical problems, especially those recently experienced in the financial markets leading to banking crises, require efforts towards the establishment of ethical guidelines in banking sector infrastructure. Indeed, this has culminated in The Banks Association of Turkey Ethical principles that came into force in 2006. This study provides an analysis of the ethical principles of the Turkish banking sector in light of a development model of ethical effectiveness. For this purpose, in examining business ethics, the theoretical infrastructure of ethical codes and the components of a Development Model of Ethical Effectiveness, a study is conducted to measure the effectiveness of ethical principles among banks. The scope of the research is confined to privately-owned deposit banks in the Turkish banking sector. The research findings were reviewed and subjected to statistical analysis. Privately-owned Deposit Banks and the Development Model of Ethical Effectiveness are evaluated on the basis of constituent components, and the results yielded confirm the proposed hypotheses. Accordingly, the banks’ written ethical codes can be observed to positively and comprehensively affect a bank’s relationships. This study encompassed the evaluation of the Turkish banking sector and frequency analysis of 96 verdicts.
