TÜRKİYE'DE YEREL BASININ GELİŞMESİNİN DEMOKRASİYE ETKİSİ Türkiye'de 800'ün üzerinde yerel gazete mevcuttur. Bu yayınların tam olarak amaca hizmet etmesi halinde demokrasinin en önemli öğesi olarak nitelendirebilecek çok seslilik sağlanmış olacaktır. Yerel basın, haber olarak belli bir bölgeye ağırlık veren, yörenin sorunlarını gündeme getiren bir yapıdır. Bu yayınların gelişmesi, iyileştirilmesi, yayınlandıkları yöredeki insanlar tarafından kabul görüp talep edilmesi, yöre insanının kendi gerçekleriyle ilgilenmesi sonucunu doğurur. Demokrasi katılımı amaçlayan bir sistem, yerel basın amaçlanan katılımı her alanda ve yüksek oranda sağlamak için önemli birer araçtır. ABSTRACT THE IMPACT OF LOCAL PRESS DEVLOPMENT IN TURKEY ON DEMOCRACY There are more than 800 local newspaper in Turkey. Multiple voiced participation which is the most imporant element of democracy, will be obtained if these local newspapers fulfil completely their service. Local press is a structure which is localized on a specific region and put the questons of public on the agenda. The development, improvement of these publications, their acceptance by the public of the local area and demand of these local publications can be resulted by the public interest. Democracy is a system which aims the participation and local press is an important means which aims to provide these participation in a highy level, in every area.
