Tekstil atıklarının sanat nesnesine dönüşüm süreci

Abstract

Bu tez çalışmasında, tekstil atıklarının çevresel, kültürel ve ekonomik boyutları ele alınarak, söz konusu atıkların sanatsal nesnelere dönüşüm süreci çok yönlü bir perspektifle incelenmiştir. İlk bölümlerde tekstil sektöründeki geri dönüşüm uygulamaları, üretim biçimleri ve sürdürülebilirlik bağlamında atılan adımlar değerlendirilmiş; tekstil atıklarının doğaya ve topluma olan etkileri çevre bilinci sınırları içinde analiz edilmiştir. Geri dönüşüm ve yeniden kullanım yöntemleri detaylar verilerek aktarılmıştır. Tezin odak noktası, sanatın dönüştürücü gücüyle birlikte tekstil atıklarının tekrar anlam kazanma sürecidir. Sanatçılar bu atıkları yalnızca birer malzeme olarak değil, aynı zamanda eleştirel bir ifade aracı olarak kullanmakta, tüketim kültürüne, hızlı moda anlayışına ve çevresel tahribata karşı farkındalık yaratmaktadır. Bu bağlamda çeşitli sanatçıların çalışmaları ve çağdaş sanat denemeleri üzerinden, atık tekstil malzemelerinin enstalasyon, heykel, tekstil sanatı ve performans sanatı gibi alanlarda nasıl yer aldığı açıklanmıştır. Sonuç olarak tez, tekstil atıklarının yalnızca bertaraf edilmesi gereken bir yük değil; yaratıcı, sürdürülebilir ve toplumsal mesajlar taşıyan sanatsal bir üretim aracı olabileceğini ortaya koymaktadır. Bu çalışma, sanat alanında ve sürdürülebilirlik politikalarında yeni yaklaşımlar geliştirilmesine katkı sunmayı hedeflemektedir.

This thesis examines the environmental, cultural, and economic dimensions of textile waste, examining the process of transforming it into artistic objects from a multifaceted perspective. The first chapters evaluate recycling practices, production methods, and sustainability initiatives in the textile sector. The impacts of textile waste on nature and society are analyzed within the framework of environmental awareness. Recycling and reuse methods are detailed and explained. The focus of this thesis is the process of repurposing textile waste through the transformative power of art. Artists use these waste materials not only as materials but also as critical tools of expression, raising awareness of consumer culture, fast fashion, and environmental degradation. In this context, through the works of various artists and contemporary art experiments, the study explores how waste textile materials find their place in areas such as installation, sculpture, textile art, and performance art. Ultimately, the thesis demonstrates that textile waste is not merely a burden to be disposed of; it can be a creative, sustainable, and socially meaningful artistic production tool. This study aims to contribute to the development of new approaches in the field of art and sustainability policies.
