Abstract
Bu tez, günümüz belgesel fotoğrafında görülen yaratıcı yaklaşımları konu almaktadır. Son on yılda üretilen belgesel çalışmalar incelendiğinde, geleneksel yaklaşımdan farklı şekillerde üretilmiş bu çalışmalar kolayca fark edilecektir. Bahsi geçen yaklaşımlar iki kategoride yer almaktadır; gelişen teknolojinin sunduğu imkanlardan faydalanılarak üretilenler ve kavramsal bir arka plan ile oluşturulmuş olanlar. Geleneksel yöntemin doğrudan anlatımına karşı dolaylı bir anlatımın benimsenmesi ile oluşturulan bu çalışmaların en belirgin özellikleri, farklı görüntüleme tekniklerinin ve hikâyelerin anlatımı kuvvetlendiren katmanların kullanımıdır. Bu yaratıcı yaklaşımlar, çalışmalarda kullanılan katmanların temasına uygun kitaplar ile sunulmaktadır. Belgesel fotoğrafın değişimine işaret eden bu yaklaşımlar, genellikle geleneksel belgesel yaklaşımın görüldüğü uluslararası fotoğraf topluluğunun önde gelen kurum ve mecralarında yer bulmuş, ödüllendirilmiş böylece kendilerine etkin bir zemin edinmişlerdir. Günümüzde üretilen belgesel çalışmaları anlama amacıyla oluşturulan bu tezde, on iki fotoğrafçının çeşitli projeleri detaylı bir şekilde incelenmiş, belgenin, fotoğrafın, belgesel fotoğrafın ve bunlarla karşılaştırmalı olarak günümüz belgesel fotoğrafının tanımları yapılmış, bu yaklaşımların ortaya çıkma sebepleri son altmış yıllık süreç incelenerek ortaya koyulmuş, tüm bunlar, içinde bulunduğumuz hakikat-ötesi adı verilen çağın kapsamında değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada, belgesel fotoğraf alanının önde gelen isimleriyle yapılan görüşmelerden yararlanılmış, kapsamlı bir fikre ulaşmak için karşıt görüşlere yer verilmiştir.
This thesis is about the creative approaches seen in today's documentary photography. When the documentary works produced in the last ten years are examined, these works produced in different ways from the traditional approach will be easily noticed. The aforementioned approaches fall into two categories; those produced by utilizing the opportunities offered by the developing technology and those created with a conceptual background. The most distinctive features of these works, which were created by adopting an indirect narrative against the direct narration of the traditional method, are the use of different imaging techniques and layers that strengthen the telling of stories. These creative approaches are presented with books that match the theme of the layers used in the works. These approaches, which point to the change of documentary photography, have found their place in the leading institutions and media of the international photography community, where the traditional documentary approach is generally seen, and have been rewarded and thus have gained an effective ground for themselves. In this thesis, which was created for the purpose of understanding the documentary works produced today, various projects of twelve photographers were examined in detail, definitions of document, photography, documentary photography and comparatively definition of today's documentary photography were made, and the reasons for the emergence of these approaches were revealed by examining the last sixty years of process. All this has been evaluated within the scope of the age called the post-truth which we live in. In the study, interviews with prominent names in the field of documentary photography were utilized, and opposing views were included in order to reach a comprehensive idea.
