Publication: Osmanlı toplum yapısı tartışmaları bağlamında Niyazi Berkes ve Behice Boran
Abstract
Bu çalışmanın amacı Osmanlı toplum yapısı tartışmaları bağlamında Niyazi Berkes ile Behice Boran’ın fikirlerini ve fikirlerini oluşturan arka planı aydınlatmaktır. 1960 Türkiye solunun düşünce dünyasını işgal etmiş temel tartışmaların başında Asya Tipi Üretim Tarzı (ATÜT) – feodalite tartışması gelmektedir. Karl Marx’ın Doğu toplumlarının özgünlüğüne vurgu yaptığı bu kavramsal müdahale Türkiye solunu ikiye bölmüştür. Benzer tarihlerde doğmuş ve hayatları birçok noktada kesişmiş olan bu iki düşünürün Osmanlı toplum yapısı tartışmalarında zıt kutuplarda bulunması dikkat çekicidir. Bu çalışma, iki düşünür arasındaki fikrî ayrılığı oluşturan faktörlerin tarihsel analize tabi tutulması ile Türkiye sol düşünce tarihi literatürüne katkıda bulunmayı hedeflemektedir. Çalışma, Behice Boran ve Niyazi Berkes’in düşünce dünyaları arasındaki iki temel farklılığa işaret etmektedir. İlki, bu iki düşünürün sosyal bilimlere dair yaklaşımları iken, ikincisi ise öne çıkan toplumsal kimlikleri olarak tespit edilmiştir.
The aim of this study is to clarify the background of Niyazi Berkes and Behice Boran's ideas and their background in the context of Ottoman social structure discussions. At the beginning of the main debates that occupied the thought world of the 1960 Turkish left, the ATUT – feudalism debate comes first. This conceptual intervention, in which Karl Marx emphasized the originality of Eastern societies, divided the Turkish left into two. It is remarkable that these two intellectuals, who were born in similar years and whose lives crossed at many points, were at opposite poles in the discussions of Ottoman social structure. This study aims to contribute to the literature on the history of left thought in Turkey by historical analysis of the factors that create the difference of opinion between the two intellectuals. The study points to two main differences between the worlds of thought of Behice Boran and Niyazi Berkes. The first difference is the approaches of these two thinkers to social sciences; The second difference was identified as their prominent social identities.
