Halkla ilişkiler perspektifinden; yeni medya teknolojilerinin risk toplumu kuramı bağlamında Black Mirror dizisi üzerinden incelenmesi

Abstract

Bu çalışma Risk Toplumu kuramı çerçevesinde yeni medya teknolojilerinin hayatımıza sunduğu yeniliklerin yanında yarattığı riskleri Black Mirror dizisi üzerinden ele almaya çalışmaktadır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünü risk toplumu kuramının ortaya çıkıĢı ve geliĢim süreci yer almaktadır. Ulrich Beck ortaya attığı Risk toplumu kuramını sürekli üretim yapan bir toplumun yarattığı yan etkilerle yüzleĢtiği bir toplum olarak kabul etmektedir. Bu toplumda risklerle er ya da geç tüm dünyanın yüzleĢmek zorunda kalacağını iddia etmektedir. Bu sebeple risklerden kaçınmak imkansızdır ve tüm bireyler bu risklerle yaşamayı öğrenmek zorundadır. Çalışmanın ikinci bölümünde yeni medya teknolojilerinin ortaya çıkıĢı ve bugüne kadar gelen geliĢim süreci ele alınmıĢtır. Yeni medya teknolojilerinin hayatımıza getireceği riskler için bazı temalar oluĢturulmuĢtur. ÇalıĢmanın ikinci bölümünde yeni medya teknolojileri ve belirlenen temalar çerçevesinde riskler ile iliĢkisi ele alınmıĢtır. ÇalıĢmanın son bölümünde yeni medya teknolojilerinin yaratması olası olan riskler Black Mirror dizisinde belirlenen temalar ile göstergebilimsel yöntem ile incelenmeye çalıĢılmıĢtır. Black Mirror dizisi yeni medya teknolojilerinin gelecekte yaratacağını iddia ettiği bir distopya ile izleyiciye sunmaktadır.

This study tries to address the risks created by new media technologies in addition to the innovations presented to our lives within the framework of Risk Society theory through the Black Mirror series. The first part of the study consists of the emergence and development process of risk society theory. Ulrich Beck considers the theory of Risk society as a society in which the production side is confronted with the side effects. It claims that the world will sooner or later face the risks in this society. It is therefore impossible to avoid risks and all individuals must learn to live with them. In the second part of the study, the emergence of new media technologies and the development process to date are discussed. Some themes have been created for the risks that new media technologies will bring to our lives. In the second part of the study, the relationship between New Media Technologies and risks within the framework of the identified themes was discussed. In the last part of the study, the risks that new media technologies may create were examined by the semiotic method with the themes identified in the Black Mirror series. The Black Mirror series presents the viewer with a dystopia that it claims new media technologies will create in the future. For this reason, new media technology risks that risk society will face in this study are represented in this series.
