Abstract

Süleyman Nazif edebi akım olarak Servet–i Fünûn hareketine mensup olmakla birlikte Servet–i Fünûn hareketinin edebi anlayışı dışında da eserler vermiştir. Şiirlerinin bir bölümünde tipik bir Servet–i Fünün şairi gibi ferdi ıstırap, aşk ve tabiat konularını ele almıştır. Sosyal içerikli ve milli özellikler taşıyan şiirlerinde ise Tanzimat dönemi şair ve yazarları gibi Türk toplumunun çeşitli problemlerine dikkat çekmiştir. Bu şiirlerinde ve sosyal ve siyasi içerikli yazılarında belirgin bir şekilde Namık Kemal etkisi görülür. Ağustos 1909 – 31 Aralık 1909 sürecindeki yazılarında başta maarif olmak üzere adliyenin ve diğer kurumların ıslahı, Girit meselesi, Lisan meselesi ve daha pek çok sosyal ve siyasî konuya değinir. Özellikle ilkokul tahsilinin önemi üzerinde duran Nazif, eğitimdeki problemlerin çözümünde öğretmen yetiştirmenin ehemmiyetine vurgu yapar. Adlî alandaki düzenlemenin mahkemeler ve kanunlar olmak üzere iki boyutlu ele alınması gerektiğini savunan Nazif, dönemin en önemli sorunlarından biri olan Girit meselesini de yakından takip eder. Girit’teki Müslüman halkın aldığı göç kararını üzüntüyle karşılayan Nazif, adadaki Rumların provokatif eylemlerine dikkat çeker ve bu konuda hükümeti uyarır. Lisan meselesine sıklıkla değinen Nazif, dilde sadeleşme hareketine karşı çıkar ve asırlar boyu kullanıla kullanıla artık dilimizin bir parçası haline gelen belli başlı Arapça ve Farsça sözcüklerin ve terkiplerin muhafaza edilmesi gerektiğini savunur. Yazılarında pek çok konuya değinen ve çok yönlü bir aydın olan Süleyman Nazif, yazılarıyla devrin önemli meselelerine ışık tutar ve halkı bilinçlendirmek için üzerine düşen vazifeyi fazlasıyla yerine getirir.

Although Suleyman Nazif was a member of the Servet–i Fünun movement as a literary movement, he also gave works other than the literary understanding of Servet–i Fünun movement. In his some poems such as the poet of a typical serveti funun, he dealt with the subject of personal anguish,love and nature. He drew attention to various problems of Turkish society, such as poets and writers of Tanzimat period, in his poems with social content and national characteristics. In these poems, his writing with social and political content was evident the influence of Namik Kemal. In his writings from 1 August 1909 to 31 December 1909, he cites the reform of courthouses and other institutions, particularly education ,the matter of Crete,the matter of language and many political and social issues. Especially the importance of education, Nazif emphasizes the importance of educating teachers in solving problems of education. He claims that regulation in the judicial field should be dealt with in two dimentions as court and laws and he closely follows the Cretan issue, one of the most important problems of the period. Grieving the decition to emigrate to Muslim people of Crete, Nazif draws attention to provocative actions of Greeks on the island and warns the goverment. Nazif, who often refers to issue of language, opposes the movement of simplicity in language and argues the protection of certain basic Arabic and Persian words that have become a part of our language for centries. Suleyman Nazif ,who is well–versed in many issues in his writings ,keeps light on the important issues of the period with his writings and carries out many of the tasks in order to raise public awareness.
