Postmodernizm bağlamında performans sanatında inanç pratikleri

Abstract

ÖZETBu tezin araştırma konusu, günümüz performans sanatınında belirleyici etkileri olan sanatsal ve toplumsal unsurları göz önünde bulundurarak, performans sanatında inanç pratiklerinin uygulanış biçimleridir.Günümüz performans sanatını ele alırken, öncelikle bir tür olarak performansın sanat tarihi içindeki gelişimini ele almak gerekmektedir. Modernist kaygılarla ilk örnekleri ortaya konan performans sanatının, postmodernizm etkisinde gelişim gösterdiği görülmektedir. Performans sanatı ve çağdaş sanatın her alanında belirleyici etkileri olan, postmodernizm bağlamında ele aldığımız, kültürel, toplumsal ve siyasal gelişmeler, çalışma kapsamında incelenmiştir. Önemli toplumsal kırılmaların yaşandığı bu süreçte, performans sanatı kimlik, kültür ve beden politikalarına odaklanmaktadır. Performans sanatı ve inanç ilişkisini incelerken, öncelikle performanslarda sıklıkla referans alınan dinsel yapılardaki performatif unsurlar ortaya konulmuştur. Bununla birlikte, performans sanatında inanç pratiklerinin uygulanışı, sanat tarihindeki önemli örnekler üzerinden ele alınmıştır.Tezin son bölümünde, inanç pratiklerinden yararlanarak ortaya konan güncel performans örnekleri kapsamlı şekilde incelenmiştir. Bu performansların arka planındaki toplumsal, kültürel ve psikolojik etkilerin yanı sıra, uygulanan pratiklere kaynaklık eden inanç ve gelenekler incelenmiştir.

SUMMARYThe research topic of this thesis is the execution of ritual practices in performance art by taking into account the artistic and social elements which have significant effects on contemporary performance art. While addressing contemporary performance art, It is primarily fundamental to put forward the development of performance as a genre in art history. Early examples of performance art are created with modernist concerns but it has gradually developed its course under the influence of postmodernism. Cultural, social and political developments dealt within the context of postmodernism and that have decisive effects on every aspect of performance and contemporary art are included in the thesis. Within this period where significant social changes take place, the performance art focuses on identity, culture and body policies.While observing the relationship between performance art and rituals, the performative elements in religious structures, which are often referred in performances, are revealed. The execution of religious practices in performance art is observed through fundamental examples in art history.In the last part of the thesis, examples of current performances referring to religious practices have been extensively studied. The beliefs and traditions which are the source of the practices are observed in addition to the social, cultural and psychological effects laying on the background of these performances.
