Publication: Silahdar Fındıklılı Mehmed Ağa Nusretname tahlil ve metin (1106- 1133/ 1695- 1721)
Abstract
Nusretnâme, XVII. Yüzyılın son yılları ve XVIII. Yüzyılın ilk çeyreği için kıymetli bir eserdir. Silâhdar Fındıklılı Mehmed Ağa tarafından kaleme alınan bu eser, müellifin Zeyl-i Fezleke adını verdiği Silâhdar Tarihi adıyla meşhur eserinin devamı niteliğindedir. II. Mustafa`nın döneminin olaylarını yazmakla görevlendirdiği Mehmed Ağa, eserini 22 Cemaziyelahir 1106 (7 Şubat 1695)'dan itibaren başlatmıştır. Yine II.
SUMMARY Nusretname is a precious work about the ends of 17th century and the first quarter of 18th. This book, written out by Silahdar Mehmed Aga has characteristics of a continuation for the famous book which was titled Zeyl-i Fezleke by the author and became famous with the name Silahdar Tarihi. Mehmed Ağa, beeing charged by Mustafa II with writing out the events of his period, started his work from the date Fabruary 7, 1695 (22 Cemaziyelahir 1106). Again, according to the will of Mustafa II, he gave his work the name Nusretname and wrote out the events chronologically, year by year. The first chapter in which the observations of the author and the events of years from 1106 to 1115- the duration of his service in the palace - are told, is more valuable than his later records. Because, he witnessed on his own the events of the those years of Mustafa II's sultanate and because of his closeness to the Sultan, sometimes was obliged to take an active part in the events. The informations he gave in the book are rather extensive because of the Author's attention. It is observed in the book that, preperations and ceremonies before the campaigns, the clothes of Sultan and the statesmen, the routes during the campaign and the stages of the wars are informed in details. It increases the value of the book that, the Author frequently quotes the speeches of the Sultan with the statesmen and discusses the assignments, the dismissals, the natural events, the fires and the new important arrangement in our institutional history. In the second chapter of the book which covers the years from 1116 to 1133 (1704-1721) Mehmed Ağa became outside of the events as he was not anymore in the service of the palace and these parts of the book were written as summary. Nusretname was generally written in the daily language of its period. However specially chosen ornate and involuted expressions were sometimes used. In our this study, Nusretname was transcribed by utilizing the oldest copy ever known and the differences are established by comparising between other copies. After the life and the books of Mehmed Ağa are introduced, the characteristics, the sources and the influences of Nusretname on other works are studied.
