Abstract
Ahmet Midhat Efendi’nin Kâinat ismi altında yazdığı ülkelerin siyasi tarihini anlattığı kitaplardan bu tezde İtalya ve Yunanistan metinleri bulunmaktadır. Ülkelerin tarihleri bilinen en eski çağlardan alınarak kitapların yayınlandığı 1880 yılına kadar getirilmektedir. Tarih anlatımı sırasında anlatılan dönemle ilgili sanat ve bilimdeki gelişmelere de zaman zaman yer verilmektedir. Kitaplarda tarih kısmına geçilmeden önce ülkelerin coğrafyası hakkında ansiklopedik bilgiler verilen bir coğrafya kısmı bulunmaktadır. Ahmet Midhat, İtalya ve Yunanistan tarihlerini yazarken de ülkelerin coğrafyasını ön planda tutmakta ve ülke coğrafyası genişlese de sınırlar içinde kalmaya gayret göstermektedir. Tarih anlatımından sonra yazarın kendi görüşleri ışığında o milletin bundan sonraki hayatı hakkında tahminlerde bulunduğu “Ahval-i Ahîre” bölüm yer almaktadır.
In this thesis in which “Kâinat” written by Ahmet Midhat Efendi tells the political history of the countries, there are texts which belong to Italy and Greece. The histories of the countries date back from the oldest times that known to 1880 in which books are published. Art and scientific developments about the era that are told are also mentioned from time to time while telling their history. In the books, before passing the history part, there is a geography part which gives encyclopedic information about the geography of the countries. While writing the histories of Italy and Greece, Ahmet Midhat gives particular importance to the geography of the countries and tries to stay in the borders of the country even if the geography expands. After history part, there is a section called “Ahval-i Ahire” in which the writer makes some guesses about that nation’s life hereafter in the light of the writer’s own opinions.
